A great hike because you don't need to spend a whole day on the trail but there is still a nice lookout at the end. The Deep Cove Lookout hike has many names depending on which book, website or sign you are looking at: Quarry Rock Hike, Grey Rock Trail, or Indian Arm Lookout Trail. Each is just another name for the east portion of the Baden Powel Trail that goes from deep cove to a lookout rock. The lookout provides a great view of deep cove and Indian Arm. Dogs are welcome on the trail without a leash and it can be hiked year round. The lookout point can be seen from deep cove and the hike is easy compared to many on the north shore. Due to its ease and proximity to Vancouver, the trail gets very busy on weekends. The hike starts off Panorama drive and there is free parking in a lot about five minute walk from the trail head. This parking lot fills quickly on weekends and many people end up parking along Panorama drive once it is full. From the parking lot you can find the trail head left down the sidewalk. Look for a sign to the Baden Powel trail then follow Panorama drive and the trail head on the left hand side of the road. The trail is well marked with many new bridges and steps so it would be difficult to get lost. The initial portion of the hike is slightly steep and all the elevation gain occurs within the first kilometer. The second kilometer of the hike levels out while crossing multiple bridges and creeks. The forest along the trail is typical for the north shore until arriving at the lookout. The first lookout has a great view of deep cove and Indian arm. For another view, continue up the trail to the left of another large rock then follow the BC Hydro pole to power line rock. There is no loop for this trail so you need to follow the trail back to the parking lot. There is a washroom near the parking lot and many small little shops and restaurants in nearby downtown deep cove.

Great hike yesterday. Still some icy patches. Right now. Kinda funny that this hike and rice lake are both coded as “easy” on this app though.

Maintained trail through forest over bridges to viewpoint on top of rock with lots of crowds and everything is wet!

Awesome easy urban trail with exceptional views at the end.

Relatively easy....if youre in decent shape. Lots of stairs and lots of people. Would do it again first thing in the morning. Viewpoint spectacular.Wish Kayla

Easy to moderate hike: easy in terms of technical skills required but moderate in terms of fitness level. There are lots of steps which are very well maintained and the only way to get across three creeks and gorges. Beautiful, tall trees and a wonderful view at the end. In all, a very well maintained trail with lovely scenery along the way to a beautiful viewpoint.

Lots of traffic. Too many steps but convenient and close to the city.

Nice little trail but definitely better in Spring or Fall when it is less busy. In summer, it is super humid and pretty busy the whole way.

Quick out and back with a great view from the rock. Always a bit busy but trail goers keep the trail clean.

I’d say this trail is more moderate than easy. It would be easy for the fit seasoned hiker, so overall a more moderate-easy for the average joe. There are a large amount of stairs initially, then more nearer the middle and a ton near the end of the hike downwards which you then have to come up on your way back. The only downside is how heavily trafficked the trail is.

This was an easy-moderate hike. Lots of stairs but not too steep, with soft and mossy trails in between. The view at the end is worth the short hike (36 minutes one way on a very relaxed pace).

Awesome hike for views and trail is beautiful. The only downside is that it's busy. The Forest was lovely and we did this pretty quick with our three year old but he's pretty adventurous! check us out @loewenlife for quarry rock and others! Parking is difficult, try to go early.

Fun hike and beautiful look out once you reach quarry rock but I’d put this more as moderate for families as there are a ton of stairs to climb which may not be great for young kids, varied ability or older adults. Can get pretty packed with people in the summer.

Amazing view and wonderful hike!

Must do for a trail during summer. Easy to moderate level and definitely worth the view you get to see at the top! Not to be missed out for sure.

Nice view at the end , little busy even though I was there at 9 am. Hike itself wasn’t very hard , very family friendly

Quite a number of stairs (nothing like the Grind ofc), but a nice easy hike w/ a pretty view. Would recommend for beginners.
There’s also a flat wood railing near the top set of stairs where people can write their names!
Make sure to grab the staple donut at Honey Doughnuts & Goodies after your hike as a reward (:

There is a high amount of foot traffic. Arrive early to find parking, and prepare yourself for lots of stairs. All culminates to a lovely view.

The town offers simple parks and gardens by the waterfront through which you can wander with ice cream, gelato, cinnamon buns, or doughnuts. Grab a seat after the hike and enjoy a beer and pizza, or rent a kayak for a few hours if you're up for more activities.

Worth a trip.

Good first hike of the season, just enough incline to make it feel like a hike. Haven’t done this hike for a few years and was surprised by how busy it was in the middle of the week. Be ready for every other person hiking to be gripping their phones or texting as they are hiking. Also passed a few people with music blaring which just doesn’t seem to fit the surroundings.
