Trail steep all the way through and rocky, so watch your step. Great view of Shawnigan lake and Swartz Bay.

Went up today and the swing is broken. one support knot came untied when a girl was on it. If someone reties the knots please be careful when using it. She was pretty banged up.

Amazing views and decently easy if you can make it up the insane incline at the beginning. I was huffing and puffing going up and I am in ok shape. Right at the beginning, we were stopped by 2 bear cubs climbing a tree and got a bit freaked but just continued. Worth it. Be prepared though - thicker forest than your average hike.

Short moderate trail. Steep in the first half, rocky and a bit tricky in the final half. Awesome views on top. Don't miss the swing!

Starts out very steep on an fsr, once you get to the cell phone tower it turns into a great climb with awesome views. The views from the top of the summit and the swing are spectacular and worth every step.

Totally worth the hike! Amazing views on top!

Parking at the first gate makes for an easier hike up; it’s a steady incline but on an off road track rather than a hiking trail. Spectacular 360 views from the top, and a swing as well!

Starts with a pretty steep hike but the views are worth it.

Nice little hike. Goes really steep right from the very beginning. There’s a little area for scenery halfway beside the big metal containers; perfect for taking pictures. The swing at top is like a cherry on top!

Swing is cool, easy hike, nice place to take a beer for late afternoon sun.

It is a steep hike, not too long but a good workout. The views are sick.. and it is a peaceful area!

This was a hard hike. I ended up taking the harder side of the trail (more scenic) which is straight up and very hard on your knees when coming back down. I will say, it so beautiful and the higher you go up, you don't even see the radio tower.

this was not worth the hike for us. it was uphill on an old hydro road, then up rock faces which was cool, but the view was quite mediocre. the swing is a much touch. be mindful the trail is hard to follow sometimes, and it is easy to get lost or side tracked. I wouldn't do this again.

There are 2 ways / road all the way first on left than 1 kilometre further road on left and when you reach tower it’s an aggressive trail to top very scenic view of Shawnigan Lake but once at very top a view of mill bay and valley

Beautiful views. The trail has a decently steep initial incline, a fair amount of bare rock, and is not very well marked but easy to follow if you’re paying attention. Took about 45 minutes to the top.

A bit of a hike getting up since there’s a steep incline at first but well worth it! The views are insane and if you’re lucky enough you’ll find the swing, which acts as a nice rest spot.

Nice hike, two ways up. Red gate is a fairly easy to moderate double wide trail. The Yellow gate is 1/2km further down Strathcona heights near the end of the road. The Yellow gate is a steep moderate double trail at first then turns into a single trail from the radio tower. The single trail is steep and hard to find at times but amazing views of Shawnigan Lake looking West. Imagine sunsets up there on a clear day are pretty amazing.
