Of all the many lakes along the North Shore, Mystery Lake is arguably the most beautiful and photogenic. It is very popular with swimmers in the summer and for good reason. The water is crystal clear, the lake is surrounded by rock bluffs, and there are several small rock islands you can swim between. The actual trail to the lake is somewhat exposed to the sun with varied terrain ranging from muddy to rocky. Unfortunately, Mystery Peak behind the lake does not share the same beauty. The main trail to the peak on the West side is simply a gravel service road leading to a chairlift at the top. There is a very small rock bluff at the highest peak but the views are not as impressive as all other nearby peaks. On your return from Mystery Peak, there is another rough, muddy section of the Mystery Lake Trail on the East side that will allow for a loop back to the lake.

Beautiful hike with a great little lake to cool off in the middle! Would recommend on a hot day as there is shade available as well. I would suggest hiking boots as the trail is muddy in places and lots of rocks. Overall, very enjoyable.

Nice hike, a bit muddy and that’s why slippery. It has a combination of amazing views, lake, where you can swim and good hike. Perfect for a summer hot day.

Nice hike, there’s two ways u can enter the trail, we had a hard time finding it cause the path is very unmarked. We went the wrong way up the gravel side so we had to climb quite the incline but still found our way. To avoid this make sure to stay to the left when entering the trail. The lake was nice very private and pretty. We ended up going down the right way and it a very cozy hike, tons of roots to climb and very covered by trees. Look out for the orange tags on the trees. Lots of bugs

Popular, busy, great swim at lake Trail has many roots and rocks, ....if it were a longer hike I would mark it as intermediate.

Fun hike up with a bit of roots sections. Can add on extensions to it once at the top. There was a lot of muddy sections and still a bit of snow!

Great trail but don’t stop at Mystery Lake. Lots of things to explore in that area so hike past the lake and you will see some amazing viewpoints

Magical spot. Short hike, about an hour round trip. Perfect after work hike during summer. Lots of little spots to explore and take pictures from.

Definitely not an EASY ascent, with the high steps between roots and rocks. But not the hardest hike I've ever done by any means

My fav so far - technical terrain but great for kids as well, lots of rocks, roots, streams of water, flowers and great spot for a snack break by the lake. Fog was a bonus!

Nice trail with junction trail to mount Seymour. We spotted a bear on our way back. You can find tons of berries in the trail.
