Over a 3rd of this route is walking on salmon arm road, which is a narrow road with two way traffic, not ideal.

It was a great trail definitely tested my skills. Would not recommend to anyone who isn’t comfortable with high ledges. Fun the road back was not great too tight with cars. Will try going back down the way I care next time.

It’s short and steep on the way up, with a good portion being rock climbing and scrambling. The views simply aren’t worth it, to be honest - drive 5 minutes up the road to Malahat Pass and they’re infinitely better. Be careful on the climb up, some of the rocks are slippery and the drop off the edge would be fatal. On the way down, there’s a turn that I simply couldn’t find, so I ended up coming down the paved road. Apart from that, the blazes are clear and well marked, despite the sign explaining otherwise.

The hike up to the summit approaching from south east was steep and a scramble up a rocky area - but with good hiking shoes it was fun. Not suitable for children. The trail was well marked and went through many varied areas such as cedar forest, grassy areas and rocky areas. The longer descend and walk to the parking lot was very pleasant.

Moderate amoung of steep uphill hike enough to have easy walks for “breaks”. Wear shoes with good traction/grip as there is a steep part involving climbing on smooth bedrock. As “dangerous” it feels going back the same way, I wouldn’t recommed taking the other trail going towards finlayson arm road (Finalyson loop) especially if you’ve parked at the campsite. It’s just not worth the walk. Burned tons of calories on this one though
