(Mis)-Adventures on Artaban Dock access at Fircom, pretty steep climbing right off the bat and is unrelenting until a nice flat section near the summit. Decided to make a loop of it instead of out & back. Made it to the summit in less than 2 hours, hiking down the back side added another 3.5 hours.... which is where the fun began. This trail is not well marked, and is not maintained. You will need a keen eye, GPS (AllTrails was great), and a calm head. I lost the trail no less than six times and did some serious bushwhacking. Sometimes wading through shoulder height ferns, other times there was absolutely no visible trail. Several times I found myself in areas with no flagging or trail markings. Definitely an adventure.

Hiking

We started the hike from the campsites at Halkett’s Bay, took about 5.5h round trip. Pretty nice with different types of vegetation and fern as you climp higher up the mountain.
