Great hike, awesome 360 views at the top and good views most of the way. Moderate fitness required, I encountered practically all age groups from pre school to about 80 years old. Road to trailhead gets progressively worse. Take a high 4x4 ideally.

Completed June 19th. The road to this hike is pretty bad, a 4x4 or truck is a necessity. We parked at the bend before the parking lot as there was still too much snow to get to the lot. The actually hike itself was short with switchbacks, taking us less than an hour to get up to the lookout. It was a beautiful, sunny day so the view was crystal clear. I really liked this hike and would say it was very doable for the average person. My advice: do your research on the route/road up.. it’ll save you some confusion!

Great hike with great 360 degree views. Steep incline most of the way up hiking poles would be useful. Bring snacks or a lunch to have up at the top as there is a great view you will want to stay and enjoy. There is also a shelter at the top but there was no access into it when I was there. Long drive up forest service road (about 45 min) to get to trail head I would reccomend having a 4x4 vehicle. Totally worth the views!

Had to park the truck approx 1km before the trailhead, due to poor road conditions, tree on toad, snow, and washout. Snow on trail at the beginning for a short distance, and some at the very summit. Try it, You’ll Lakit

The road getting there was very sketchy. Not sure I’d drive it again. Would probably just get out and walk the extra distance. The hike was terrific though! View from the lookout is awesome in every direction.

Gorgeous views at the top! The little cabin is awesome, you could stay overnight, little wood burning stove, a bed (need to bring a mat) and windows all around (just need to remove wood boardings.) Very steep incline pretty much all the way, definitely a mod-hard trail. I would say 2-3hr return depending on how long you stay at the top. The road up to the trailhead is very tricky! Takes about an hour once you hit the gravel road, 100% off roading, not maintained and very narrow usually fits one car at a time, if you come across a vehicle coming from the other way you need to do some creative thinking to make it work, especially along the cliff sides! No question you need a 4x4 vehicle with some height clearance! Worth all the effort I promise!

The view is worth the climb. Slippery shale rock at points, but nothing too serious. The road up to the trailhead is worse than the climb! The payoff is so worth it. The Lookout itself is well maintained by other hikers. It has a wood stove and a few other basic necessities in the cabin. Nice short climb, maybe an hour tops, up to the lookout. There are picnic tables too to have a nice lunch spot.
