Mount Robson is an imposing mountain. With almost 3,000 meters the highest peak of the Canadian Rockies, the area that also includes Jasper and Banff. There is a visitor center near the entrance where a ranger informs us uncertainly about the bear population. She appears to be little enthusiastic about what is on display in the park. When we ask what there is to experience, she says that we should go for a walk and look around ourselves. A bit different than the National Park Service rangers in the United States. We often see an abundance of passion, knowledge and enthusiasm there. There is one large walk through the park to various camping sites: Berg Lake Trail. We decide to walk five kilometers to the first lake: Kinney Lake. The walk partly follows the banks of the Robson River. This is noticeably less wild than the rivers we saw yesterday in Wells Gray. The second part of the walk is about an easy forest road. Scented pines and thick cedars all around. Here and there we see a happy squirrel jumping. Finally we reach Kinney Lake. It is difficult to describe the color of the water in this lake. Azure blue? Crystal clear? Milky blue? The lake has an overwhelming color. This reminds us of Plitvice in Croatia and Joffre Lakes, which we saw a few days ago. Especially today, now that the sun shows itself regularly, the brightly colored water shines. We take a half hour break on a pebble beach. It is enjoying the silence, the sun and the majestic view of Mount Robson. Mount Robson Provincial Park was not originally included in our schedule ... and this was probably justified. Don't get it wrong: we had a nice day and the lake is really incredibly beautiful. But in recent days we have been more impressed by the beauty of nature in Canada. Habituation? Perhaps.

Nice and easy day trip with rewarding views! Pack a lunch and enjoy your time around the Kinney Lake area. We hiked a little past the lake and explored into the valley before you would continue onto Emperor Falls before heading back down.

Did not do the full trail, but just the 50 min walk to the lake (en route to Jasper). Amazing views of the mountain and blue lake. Had luck with a parking spot at the start of the trail. Was even busy on Sept 5.

Stunning views at the lake. the water color is insane, you have to see it to believe it is real. fairly easy hike with minimal elevation. if you have the time continue to the very end of the lake to the Flats (if they are open and not flooded).

Great hike that’s very accessible! As 2 able bodied people with 2 young dogs it took us about 2 hours total but we stopped at the picnic tables to have a snack after our hike in! Beautiful lake after a nice walk/hike! We left at 3pm and the road was lined with cars but we were able to grab a spot right at the trailhead and only had a few people with us at the end of the trail. Lots of opportunities for the dogs to get a drink or cool off in the glacial water which was a plus because we didn’t have to carry water in for them! Would definitely recommend

Hiked this with my dog, with breaks it took us about 3 hours to complete! Awesome view of the lake with picnic tables at the top. Beautiful walk all the way up. We loved it and would do it again.

nice and easy trail. a lot of beautiful look outs that you really cant miss. good for an afternoon walk. can take your time and eat lunch anywhere you like. we recommend to not go all the way to the end as the view isn’t as satisfactory as the ones you will see just after 4k. i heard that bikes were recommended.. don’t do it. its really not worth it. its a great walk instead. you’ll tire yourself out really fast by biking. it was beautiful though. we really enjoyed it. especially after doing a 30 km hike 1 day ago. make sure to wear proper shoes... saw some wearing only toms or flip flops, don’t do that. its muddy in some places and can be cool at times. enjoy the view.

Our first day in Mount Robson was spent hiking about 5 km up to Kinney lake. This is a great trail for all ages. It is wide and although it has a steady gain all the way it is not too intense. The trail up to the near end of the lake could be done with a stroller or wagon. If you continue on to Kinney Campground the trail narrows significantly and becomes quite rooted and rocky. It could be managed with a backpack child carrier though. The trial follows the turquoise waters of the Robson River all the way through an old growth forrest so there is lots to keep the kids interest along the way. Pack a lunch and enjoy the views while you dip cool your feet in the icy glacier fed lake. The trail can be used for mountain biking as well to the 7 km mark after the campground but biking will be much more enjoyable in the early morning or later in the day. This trail is good for all ages which means it is popular and can get quite busy in the middle of the day.

Great hike. parking can be a pain. The river is nice to walk next to at the base, and the lake is phenomenal once you cross the bridge. I recommend going all the way to Kinney lake campground (the lodge on the far side) for lunch. You'll beat the crowds and get a great view. We went another 200 m past the campground and down from that bridge to the Lakeshore for lunch. Highly recommend.

Heavily trafficked, muddy, but well worth it. The trail is washed out around Kinney Lake meaning we had to go off trail quite a bit. We kept going past the Kinney Lake campground and had a nice private lunch on a log bench by the lake. Lovely trail all around. It's nice to see all the different foliage around Mt. Robson, especially the cedars.

Easy hike to the most beautiful lake! Don’t stop at the bridge, keep going to the camp site/picnic shelter...just gorgeous.

Great walk up to Whitehorn campground, a warm-up before Berg Lake.

This is probably the easiest trail with the biggest pay off I have ever done! Easy, wide trail, beautiful throughout. I did this a few days ago, sunny weather. Went around the lake for 9.4 miles out and back. Would have loved to do a backpacking trip farther to Berg Lake but I have my best hiking buddy, my dog Miss Emme and dogs are not allowed in the back country. Still Perfect! This was a great day out for all abilities.... Clearly sign posted and the lake is stunning. We went over to the first “shelter point” on the map, which is more than needed really if you just want to experience the beautiful lake! That said its definitely worth a little extra walk to get away from the crowds and find your own quiet spot! Recommended....

One of my favourite lakes! The trail is not difficult at all, and pretty varied! We walked a little past the campground for more amazing views. Shame we had an afternoon of driving planned, otherwise I would have loved to continue a by further. Can wholeheartedly recommend this hike! Get here early to enjoy the peacefulness of the lake, around noon the trail starts to get busy.

Trail is quite easy to the Lake. Good footing and nice and wide. If you want to follow the perimeter of the lake to the pavillion for a nice lunch there is a small set of switchbacks to go through. View is amazing! Highly reccomend!

Super easy hike with a few mild inclines. Rewarding views of the beautiful Kinney Lake, which was a shockingly beautiful turquoise.
