Description
Waypoints (0)

Set along the eastern boundary of the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve, this multi-trail loop offers a unique adventure very well suited to families and people of all ages and abilities. A total of six trails make up this hike and with exception to the Mystery Creek trail, all are smooth gravel walking paths with easy rolling changes in elevation. Paths like these are commonplace but what sets this hike apart is the dense forest tightly surrounding the trails. It is exceptionally green with a beautiful mix of lichens and old growth trees. Mystery Creek also has several nice viewpoints and small cascades that help make this hike almost the perfect nature trip.  These trails do also allow mountain bikes and as this area is located next to the popular Mountain Forest bike park, it is common to share the trails with cyclists who are passing through. This should be no cause for concern as the paths are wide and there seems to be a respectful understanding from the riders that these trails are primarily for hiking. For the Mystery Creek trail, bikes are forbidden and this is also the only section of trail with a noticeable incline. If uphill travel is preferred for this section, a clockwise direction for the hike will be the correct choice.  Parking for this hike is conveniently located at a small lot right at the trailhead. Unrestricted street parking is also available all along Hyannis Drive making it almost certain that an empty space can be found at any time.

What a great way to spend an hour on a misty Vancouver morning! Great trail, fairly well-marked, and lots of options if you decide to explore elsewhere. The majority of the trail is in some beautiful forest with plenty of birds and very few bugs. Will definitely do this one again!

Loved it. 100% would do it again. It was muddy from the recent rain, but hiking boots did the job and kept my feet dry.

Started at the top of Hill Drive and took a side trail to Bridle Path. Nice, wide trail for most of the way. Great cardio going up Old Buck and then west on the Baden Powell. Came down Good Sir Martin and Severed D and only saw one other person. Great hike!

Awesome, beautiful, scenic trails. But you’ll definitely need the AllTrails app as it’s easy to get lost!

Beautiful example of an old growth forest along with the historical remains of logging from over a century ago. Hyannis, Bridle and the Fisherman's trail are all smooth walking paths. If you prefer all paths like this, the other trail starting from this trailhead (Hyannis, Bridle and Fisherman's) will be perfect for you. The Mystery Creek trail is slightly rougher but also has great viewpoints of Mystery Creek. The trail under the powerlines is not impressive but they almost never are.

Although it's marked as 'moderate' this leans more towards an easy route. There aren't any difficult paths or obstacles, some incline but nothing that will require much physical exertion. Overall a very nice walk or run with decent elevation. Lots of crisp fresh air and trees to be in the moment and be in unison with the beauty of the north shore.
