Extremely hard. Did it in one day. Started at 7 am and finished after dark at 8 pm. Late September. Very wet when I went. Made some of the stream crossings more difficult. You want dry rocks at the top for safer scrambling (which I had). The middle 4k is very hard. The last 15k is hard since one tends to be tired by then.
There is a new part of the trail not on my several-year-old map. At David peak, the trail goes right over the top. All Trails had it right.
Overall, prepare well and it is a fabulous hike scramble.
