First few kms to the bridge is easy, after the bridge it's all uphill for about 4kms. Took us about 3 hours going up. Pretty muddy nearing the top. Once we reached the apline, it was absolutely beautiful. So much greenery and mountains. We could see Lakelse Lake and all the boats, super cool. Definitely worth the grind to the top!
Easy 3km hike to the first bridge. Then from there it goes steadily uphill for 2.5-3km. Take many breaks to catch your breath. We flagged the trail with blue ribbons to show where there are ground bees nest. I got stung 5 times and the poor dogs had hornets burrowing into their fur.! Watch out! After the nests come a beautiful turquoise lake surrounded by mountains. Well worth the steep hike! With many breaks it took a total of 3 hours one way!
Great trail to the lake. Very steep. I was moving quickly and it took me 90 minutes. Another 90 minutes was required to make it to Gunsight peak. Not a very well-defined trail from lake to summit, but the terrain was open and easy to read. No serious cliffs to navigate. Great views all around and awesome mountain terrain. Only complaint would be the bugs.
The first hour, to the bridge is fairly easy. However, after that... buckle up Skippy, she’s straight up! It’s two hours of climbing with little to see as far as scenery goes. Once you reach the top however, it’s totally worth it! This is a difficult hike but one I’m looking forward to doing again. Trekking poles are a MUST!!!!!!!
