Lovely hike! We took the grass lake trail the whole way, other options (monument mountain, rick peak, etc) we heard were less well marked, and longer, respectively. It took us 2h 10min from parking lot at the salmon hatchery to Grass lake, at the top. Mostly really well marked except for one place that has two seemingly obvious options; go left, continuing up rocky dry riverbed, maybe the sign post disappeared there. It took about 1h 15min to get back down. Incredibly beautiful, and well worth it! Definitely want to see some of the other trails next time. Like others have said, bring plenty of water, and some food. It's mostly uphill, (downhill on the way back) but with little bits of leveling off just in time to let you catch your breath. Lots of loose rocks in the riverbed areas. Easier than Mt. Finlayson, no need for scaling rock faces with all fours!

We did this trail on July 1, Canada Day. It took us about 2hrs, 45 minutes. We did stop to read the information panels that are on the trail at the beginning. We went at 4:30pm it is a well marked wide trail, only saw 6 other people using it. Be aware that the trail is 97% uphill on the way in, 97% downhill on the way out. Good workout for the calfs and butt muscles. Bring water, snacks are good too.

The Grass lake trail is very well maintained and has enough markers. However, if you wish to get more adventurous, you can take the Ridge trail back down, through Rick peak. Its a sparsely marked trail and one can get lost fairly easily if you don't have the map downloaded and check your location every 2 minutes. But the thrill and adventure on bare mountain slopes is unbeatable.

Nice trail - well marked. The last part of the trail is a nice uphill stretch. I found cell phone reception is a bit hit and miss on the trail. Depending on your speed this is approx a 3 hour hike round trip, so like others have mentioned, bring enough water and a bit of food.

This trail was well marked and easy to follow, a sign was missing on the way up but didn’t interfere with the hike at all. A large Doug fir blew over near the lookout but had been cut recently to provide easy access to the lake.

Great trail. Well marked, uphill but loved the lake view. Take monument mountain trail back for beautiful ocean views!

Was a really neat hike! Great trails but definitely a lot of uphill especially on the last push before Grass Lake. Took the monument trail down and was super pleased with the view! Highly recommend but bring lots of water and snacks it’s a long hike.

Steady incline all the way up, with the last kilometre or so being quite steep. If you’ve done Mt Quimper or even Mt Finlayson, you can definitely do this. As other reviewers suggested, we took Monument Trail down and although it looks deceiving at first, even with the clouds/fog there were gorgeous views once you hit the rock face. Will definitely do again

I absolutely loved this hike. I took the grassy lake trail to the lake and then took monument trail back down and the views were incredible. Hiked this alone and didnt see anyone on the trail the whole time. Monument was a wonderful way to finish and mix it up and make it a loop trail :) The mushrooms were also incredible. hiked this 2 weeks ago, beginning of October.

Tied together Peden Lake and Grassy Lake. Good hiking overall. Favorite spot was the Lily pads at Grassy Lake.

A beautiful lake at the end of a lovely forested trail. The lilies in the lake were spectacular. Swim was refreshing! We saw no other hikers.

We went in via the Harrison Road access and took about the same time as the route posted. Just follow the blue C.R.D flagging tape and keep to the right when trail splits. Very beautiful forest and rock bluffs along the way
