Awesome solo day hike. A long one but worth it! Took 4.5 hours from the parking lot to Mamquam Lake. Very few people from Elfin to Mamquam on the way there but many more on the return trip. Hiked up to Opal Cone on the way back and the views were amazing. Lots of glaciers in the distance. Alpine flowers abundant and the bugs weren't bad at all. Also, swimming at Elfin was popular with many other hikers.
Total hiking distance 47km, time: 10 hours 45 min including stops for water, snacks, pics and chatting with other hikers. Cumulative elevation gain was just over 2200m. Definitely a good workout and calorie burner!

Great 2 day trip -- day 1 hike out to Rampart Ponds (7 hrs), spent the evening setting up camp and exploring Mamquam Lake + the surrounding region. Day 2 hike out (5 hrs).

Great hike overall. Several different biomes -- passed through a lot of forest, alpine regions, and a large icefield. Note there is still snow at Rampart Ponds and along the way in August, but it was manageable in just hiking boots.

Great 2 day trip. Day one hour to elfin lakes, day 2 hike to mamquam lake. Great views of mamquam glacier, the gargoyles, garibaldi glacier. The hug at elfin lakes is great and relativity empty after October. The hut has cooking appliances, tables, bunks, and board games.
