Nice, easy trail with a slow incline to an area before the east west canyon connector bridge. Descends to the bridge then fairly even the fairly short distance to Viewpoint Beach. Few people on this trail and the beach, while there were a couple of campers off to the side, was very peaceful. Previously crossed the bridge and took the West Canyon Trail on the way back, but while it is a very good trail, it is a more rugged and natural path than the east. While my friend's dog made it before without too much trouble, I didn't think he got too much out of it, so avoided it this time. The connector bridge was great, but the dog also didn't care for it. As someone else had noted, if you do go back along the west canyon, be sure to turn off to the left at what I believe is the Menzies Trail as noted in the other review. I would have gone too far as well, but had the tracker on my phone which showed I was to the west of the parking lot. That trail will wind down to the road and come out just before the bridge over Gold Creek to the parking lot. Would be nice if there was a sign to indicate the lot is in that direction, but as of May, there was not. Overall though, the East Canyon Trail is a nice hike with a couple of other trail options along the way, and some good places for the dogs to get a drink on the side of the trail, even in August!

Good dog friendly and easy trail. It’s nice that it’s a bit less trafficked, and had optional “add-ons” if you want a few more kms. A great path!

If you come back on the West Canyon trail it is much better to make this a loop instead of out and back. Great views.

Nice trail. We took the east west connector (bridge) and came back on the Golden Ears / West Canyon trail. West Canyon is much more challenging than the East and we ended up in the West Canyon parking lot. The walk back to our car along the gravel road was super dusty and awful. I think it might have worked to take a right on the Menzies trail instead of going all the way down to the West Canyon parking lot as we saw the trailhead near our parking lot.

Nice hike on a sunny winter's day. Be sure to cover the low falls trail on your way back. Nice views of snowy mountains on clear days.

We hiked the East Canyon Trail from the parking lot until a small fork later into the hike with the East Canyon sign. To turn it into a 7km loop with the we hiked on the small connector trail downhill from here and were treated to some lovely views of the lower falls trail :) all in all a great hike!

Gravel and rocky uphill climb if you continue passed the turn for the loop it takes you down a hill to a nice swimming pool. Overall not the most scenic hike but a great run.
