Great for a quick snowshoe hike! Not too busy on a weekday morning. Lots of dogs. With some fresh snow snowshoes were perfect, but after a couple days without snowfall I could see it being packed down to where crampons would be adequate.

Good snowshoe trail, but a lot of off leash dogs. Some of the dogs barked and ran out of nowhere. First lake is pretty cool. There are a lot of ups and downs on the trail. It was VERRY busy on a Sunday! which was pretty annoying.

Nice short trail, but fairly busy and lots of (off leash) dogs. Lots of snow, mostly packed down. Most people had snowshoes on but spikes could work as well.

As of November 2019 it is icy, still muddy out in the trail. Use caution.

I've hiked Dog Mountain many time in all conditions. It's a great hike that doesn't take too long and isn't very strenuous. It's very popular though and people definitely don't have trail etiquette. Most recently hiked it on Nov-3-2019 with my 8yr old son. Here are a few notes: -Picked up quite a bit of trash along the trail -Dog Mountain is an ON LEASH do friendly trail. I saw at least 20 dogs that were off leash. 1 almost knocked my son off a log crossing a stream. -Dog Mountain is NO SMOKING. I saw somebody smoking a joint on the trail. -I passed two people playing music out loud on the trail. I love dogs. I have no issues with weed. I love music. BUT please remember where you are and that you're sharing the trail with others.... -DO NOT SMOKE ON THE TRAILS. Do it in the parking lot before you hit the trails -KEEP YOUR DOGS ON LEASH. The trails aren't wide and need to be shared with multiple people. You also don't know what fears people may have of dogs. It doesn't matter how nice your dog is, some people may have phobias. -KEEP YOUR MUSIC TO YOURSELF. You may think your music is great but other people like to hike to the sounds of nature. If you need to hike with music, wear headphones. -DON'T LITTER. This is just common sense. Respect our trails, leave no trace, pack it in pack it out.

Great hike today, took about 2 hrs there and back. Its a busy spot but not overwhelming. It’s pretty icy and slippery in some spots so good footwear is ideal!

Awesome sunset. Trail is easy. It was quite fun returning in the dark.
