Great trail for a workout. It's a steep climb, rated moderate but on the hard side of moderate IMO.

Well kept trail. We got confused by the Forrest service roads but you have to just keep going straight into the trail heads. At one point, while we were following the pink markers, we started seeing gold ones and got confused but then we saw one last marker pointing to the left that said “cabin”. We found it. Stunning view, although it is starting to be blocked by overgrowing trees. The cabin was stocked. It even had sleeping bags and mats, firewood, a stove, rainwater, matches, toilet paper, etc. Unfortunately we couldn’t find the guest book. I would consider this hike a “difficult”, not “moderate”. It took us about an hour and a half to two hours to get up and about 45 minutes to get down. It’s quite steep and I fell at one point. I would definitely do this hike again. Very rewarding.

Excellent workout hike. Completed March 17th. There is no snow on the trail until about the last portion of the hike, about where the trail intersects with the forest road. So you're minutes from completing it by then. Excellent cabin at the top. Its is worth the grind!

Good hike that doesn't take too long to complete and offers an excellent workout with a rewarding end point. The trail is pleasant, narrow, and as the name "Grind" suggests - it is quite steep. We went Mar 9th 2019 and there was a lot of packed ice and some areas with snow. Microspikes are highly recommended right now and will be a life saver especially on the decent down. It took us about 1-1.5 hrs to get up and then we stayed at the cabin for awhile to enjoy lunch. The cabin is cute and filled with little things that other hikers have left behind. There is a nice view from there and a couple benches to sit on. You will want to pack water for your dog since there aren't any steams or pools anywhere along the way.

Nice little steep hike. It's very icy right now so would definitely recommend microspikes. Some snow on the trail, but it's melting. Parking is on the edge of the roadway, and the trail has no signage at the start. It's steep the whole way, with two spots that level off as you cross over the logging road.

Mosquitoes were very bad as soon as we got out of the vehicle. The trail itself is grueling, and it only slacks off a tiny bit near the very top where you get a brief bit of FSR to walk on until its back into the trees. Looking forward to doing the full pull to Dewdney peak once the mosquitoes die off.
