Short slog. Minimal views. Super worth it.

Well marked. Steep at the beginning but the 360 views at the top were absolutely stunning. So worth the heat.

When you feel like giving up to the North Summit, DON’T it’s worth it. One of my favourite peak 360 degree views

Went up the side of the ski hill. Expect loose rocks. Quick way to get to the top. Not much scenery.

Ski trail the whole way, great way to get up to Strachan quickly but not an interesting ascent

Christmas gully is partially covered in snow but doable in good hiking boots. Lots of bears around at the moment.

Trail markers were tricky to follow. We missed the first left and had to back track. Trail was wet and muddy with bits of snow. Passable in just hiking boots but made it even harder to follow. Views at the top are fantastic though opted not to cross the gully and then summit Strachan. We took the ski runs back and shaved off our ascent time by an hour.

HikingGreat!Snow

Did this on June 7th. Meant to do the hollyburn trail but did this. From the cypresss maim lot go straight and then turn right at the main maps. You will see the side of the mtn going up and goes around the corner. Follow this up and winds around the mtn and then to your left and up further. Eventually you will see Bowen island and the view from there. Keep followong up to get to the top view. Clouds rolled in so my view was hidden. I saw bowen island below but not the mountains looking north. Good hike. Highly recommend on a sunny day. Still lots of snow so spikes would help as i did not bring mine and it made it more challenging going uphill in snow. Sun was bright off of the snow. About 2-2.5 hrs round trip with stops for pics and water/food.

Definitely the quickest way to get to the southern and northern peak of Mount Strachan avoiding the Old Strachan trail and Christmas gully route. As of 2019-05-27, still lots of snow on collins run trail around its northern portion all the way up to the summit. We did it in microspikes and trekking poles without issue.

Quick hike up the green ski runs with great viewpoints at the top of sky chair. Great with snow or in summer.
