view and drive was very fun. i turned back just before hitting the trailhead as there was still too much snow and it was getting a bit dangerous alone. definitely will try again when the snows melted.

my husband and I have been up there 2 summers. the views never fail to amaze us. last hiked up there at the last week of august 2020. Definitely need a 4wd, or with a good clearance, but it's all worth your journey.

HikingGreat!

A good off road on the way up if you have the vehicle for it, certainly tiring if your body is unprepared for this hike. Unreal views all the way up.

I did this back in summer. If you’re in great shape this hike will be no problem for you. I’m not in the best shape and found it moderate/hard. Spectacular views the whole way. Totally worth the climb.

Also looking if anyone has done this recently? How much snow is there? Would crampons suffice?

Incredible views. The hike definitely isn't as strenuous as it is nerveracking at some points. If you're scared of heights challenge yourself! But you may be comforted by a trekking pole. You absolutely need a vehicle with 4wd. I would even suggest having good clearance because the road up is deep ditch after deep ditch. My jeep was fine but the truck in front of me bottomed out at one point. I went on October 31 and wasn't able to summit because we didn't have spikes. We got close, but it was way too icy. At this point, you'll absolutely need snowshoes and spikes. Can't wait for the summertime to see all of the wildflowers and to reach the summit!

Did this a couple of summers ago, I wouldn’t consider it hard. I’ve gone up twice now for sunrise. Started hiking at 3 am and it was absolutely beautiful!! Need a 4x4 the road up is crazy.

Closed

This hike was closed today; October 15. The road was blocked halfway up the service road as they are removing trees. A crew member said it will be closed for the next few days.

I wouldn't consider this hard - the trail is well maintained and easy. No technical difficulty. It is a good workout and quite steep, but very short. About 12-18" of snow at the top yesterday. Hiking boots with good tread was all that was necessary, but dress for below zero and cold winds.

You can get all the info you need for the road from mostly every other review, so I'll talk about the wildlife... BEARS ARE ACTIVE! We encountered 2 separate black bears on trail today. One was in the lower meadows near the first pond (about 10 mins from the trailhead). The second was in the higher alpine area, well above the trail as it traverses the mid level meadows beneath Lady peak. It was there on the way up, and on the way back. However, as we were about to exit the base meadow area near the pond, we had noticed the bear was then well BELOW the trail where we saw him, and had made substantial ground in that short time. They will likely become more active in the mid and lower meadows, now that snow is beginning to coat the upper alpine and limit their food selection. So if you are planning a hike up in the next few weeks as the bears store up on as many berries as they can get their paws on while supplies last... be aware of your surroundings, be cautious with your food scents, keep dogs ON leash (even if you don't see a bear, your dogs could easily notice it before you), bring bear spray, keep and eye out for bear poop on the trails (there was LOTS today), and best practice would be to not hike alone. As for snow, the trail is snow free until you start to make your push to the summit. It is spotty coverage in the saddle area between Cheam to the left, and Lady to the right. The coverage becomes more consistent the higher you go, and there is no visible trail when you get to the top. Still likely have a few weeks before the snow coverage is top to bottom.

Great!

Beautiful trail— especially with all of the fall colours right now. Most of the incline is pretty mild... there are a few steeper sections, but nothing to excruciating. Not much shade/ tree cover, so dress appropriately. Road to the trail head was pretty rough. Would definitely do this one again

This is an awesome trail I really enjoyed I did it today oct 4th 2020. The stats are deceiving on this trail I think it should be rated hard, I have done dewdney grind to the top and sumas moutain from the lower lot, on neither of them were this hard and my legs are super sore, totally worth it though awesome hike

Considering it's high elevation gain it didn't seem too tough, couple of stops it's very manageable. There's views the entire way which makes the hike seem easier. We saw two black bears.
