Please be advised that this is primarily a mountain biking trail, but you can hike it as well. The trail goes through some lovely forest and is very nice when it is atop a ravine. Generally not too rooty or rocky. However, the bikes have really made it their own: for a hiker, the steep and actually too smooth down sections are super tricky right now to get down.

We took this route all the way to Crystal Falls and back. Very steep to walk in some parts. This trail is quite challenging for an amateur, took us over 2 hours and at some points I felt like turning around. We saw no mountain bikes but if there were any it is so steep in some areas that theres nowhere to move, very risky. The trail is difficult to see sometimes, a GPS is helpful. Also the shooting range is closed on Tuesday’s and other days (check Google) so if you’d rather not hear gunshots i suggest going one of those days. This trail is very rewarding if you like a challenge.

Went up the trail. Lots of elevation, few markings, difficult to navigate in the snow without footprints to follow. The mountain bike obstacles helped guide the way. The sound of gunshots from the gun club is unnerving!

However, the bikes have really made it their own: for a hiker, the steep and actually too smooth down sections are super tricky right now to get down. On the bum or skid like crazy. Even zig zaging is very difficult. Frustrating, because its so close to being a nice trail. It teases one with nice sections and then drops sharply. Not good for hiking. We were early in the am so no biker came behind us, but that would be really scary.

Although originally built by and for mountaIn bikers, this is a shared biking and hiking trail and has been used by both for many, many years. Hikers should keep ears and eyes open, as bikes will come down fast. Don't worry about actually dodging bullets. When I hiked up on an early Saturday evening in spring, there was no one else around at all. No gunshots either! Lots of dirt chutes to climb up and some scenic meandering along a spine with ravines either side.

Sweet mountain bike trail! Has some good little chutes and lots of fun. Not a hiking trail, some pretty fast sections on the bikes so if you are going to chance it keep your eyes and ears open a d be ready to hop off the trail.

It's not a hard trail with mountain biking path, but we only finished 2/3 and then gave up because there are many signs writing "Darger! Active shooting range". We were afraid of being shot...
