HikingGreat!Muddy

Went september 19th very foggy and smoky at the top. Still very magestical and peaceful even with very minimal views. Beginning starts off steep but then it levels out and the top is so worth it!

We went September 12, 2020 and the conditions were ok. No mud, a few bugs and very hazy. The hike itself was moderate but for an experienced hike I would say it’s probably easy. The lake was so so definitely nothing to write home about. Other than that not much of a view

HikingGreat!

Hiked a couple weeks ago on a Thursday after work (around 4:30pm). Not a lot of people on the trail. Saw some people swimming in the lake. The viewpoints at Yew Lake Lookout were great.

Great trail, first bit is mainly uphill switchbacks but after that it’s a really nice trail with lots of lakes to make up for the fact that the main lookouts were clouded over

There are definitely better choices than Black Mountain. The rough gravel path for the majority of the hike is not in any way a walking path but it is not really a hiking trail either. Just a grind over rolling rocks and gravel. The views from Black Mountain are not very impressive either. On the positive side, the loop at the top connecting the two Black Mountain peaks is great. You will pass four lakes on this loop and they are all gorgeous right now. This entire trail is also excellent for winter snowshoeing as the rocky gravel issue is of course solved. For better summer views, the longer Eagleridge Bluffs Loop is far superior. And for a better summer trail that is a real hiking trail, we recommend Hollyburn Peak from the Cypress Parking Lot.

This hike is definitely worth it! Did eagle bluffs first, View was awesome at the top, make sure to feed the birdies and baby squirrels. Would recommend to do eagle bluffs first and on the way back make a turn to black mountain and cabin lake.
