Generous parking, Well-marked trail. Follow ‘Summit Connector’ at any junction point and you will make your way to the summit. Lovely lookouts all along the way. Not to be missed!

Absolutely gorgeous views all the way up! Switchbacks made for a great hike to reach the summit. A “must do” when visiting Lake Cowichan as trails are well marked.

Loved this hike - views all way up, moderate climb, and best of all it was really quiet even on a holiday weekend. Recommend hiking on a cooler sunny day but there is always the lake to jump into at the bottom if you get too hot !

No washroom at trailhead - the one at the park on opposite side of the road was closed (covid?) There is a porta potty 1.5k away at Marble Bay Park. Trail is pretty easy to navigate & straightforward. I went a day after a rainy day so the part past the ridge to the end was a bit wet and slippery on roots & rocks.

The majority of this trail is pretty moderate and goes on for quite a distance. Several points seemed like the top but it kept going! Some have said this is a quick hike but I disagree. The trail is completely open with almost no shade. Add a warm day with blue sky to that and it can take it's toll on you, if you're not super seasoned. Watch out for a spot where it gets very narrow and is on the edge of a steep cliff closer to where the trail starts going to the top.

Easy to moderate hike, got to the top in 1 hr 20 mins at a brisk pace of 4 km/h with minimal breaks Views at the end are slightly disappointing, not at all sweeping, no view towards the main part of Lake Cowichan, but still a nice hike on a sunny day with some uphill, not too easy, not too hard

Loved the trail! Was fairly easy up until the last lookout point and then a bit steeper and overgrown up to the summit. Views of the lake were amazing

This is my favourite trail. Lots of switchbacks to make the elevation a nice easy grade all the way up. This trail is actually about 12km out and back of you go all the way to the summit. Most people stop at the Lookout Log, which is about 10.5km

Gorgeous blue sky day. Last time I went up it was pissing rain and foggy. Great view of the lake. Good leg burn.

It was a fairly tough trail, if you are going all the way. Almost no shade, and no creeks for refreshing. The trail itself is well maintained even beyond “not maintained“ point. We made it all the way with a 6 and a 4 yo. For full video review including aerial footage of the hike please search for “Bald Mountain, Cowichan Lake, Vancouver Island Hike” on YouTube.

I found this to be an awesome trail for trail running! Nice, gentle slope to a beautiful lookout, and trail is very well marked. Only passed 2 others on a beautiful, sunny week day. I agree with others in that there is little to no shade on a sunny day.

Very well marked and maintained. Gradual gradient to the top, where there are terrific views. No sign of bears or other animals. There’s no shade on a hot day.

Excellent trail. Solid climb to the top, but pretty open, so bring lots of sunscreen and water. At the top, it looked like the trail kept going, but I didn't go further than what was on AllTrails.

Some bear scat on road so be proactive. Incredible views. Worth the trek. Pack a lunch and make an afternoon out of it as lots of vistas to take in.
