Whirlpool Ridge Loop Trail is a 6.6 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada that offers the chance to see wildlife and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking, trail running, and bird watching. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

We hiked/scramble to the summit of Mt Frank or Whirlpool Point mountain. Did a loop reconnecting with route back at tree line. Seldom completed the day is long (for an upper middle aged guy like me) however achievable. The summit has a log book reflecting how few teams make this scramble. Between awesome long ridge with grandiose views and a return via the valley below highly recommended for the scrambling crowd. The crux is safe and easily achieved. Clearly most folks hike to the first cairn on the beginning of the ridge.

tough climb, not the best views, could be better marked, no cell service nearby, otherwise enjoyed the day, did NY'sD., 4hrs up and 2 down.

Trail not easy to find in most places , when in doubt stay left on west slope , left of highest rock point you see as climbing

Easy access from parking, immediate accent, beautiful forest, trail is scant in some areas due to fire and it never having been a marked trail.
