Note: Up to lake Agnes is the easy to moderate part of the trail; however, when trying to scale to the top from lake Agnes is where things get quite tricky. About halfway up it gets steep and some willpower is required.

I’d highly recommend this trail. It’s just enough challenge to feel like I accomplished a good hike! “Easy” up to lake Agnes then the climb begins. Honestly the descent after the climb up to the Beehive was more challenging to me. Quite rocky and quite busy. Only issue I had with people was someone was playing music on a speaker while hiking. I’m a fan of using hiking to enjoy the surroundings and be more meditative.

Gorgeous hike! Great combination of moderate to challenging. Lake Agnes Tea House Hike is beautiful with a stop at Mirror Lake a long the way. Grab a bite or hot drink at the Tea House, enjoy the view of Lake Agnes, then take your stroll around the lake. Then begin the more difficult part of the climb up to Big Beehive! It isn’t hard persay, just a little unnerving due to the rocky bits and steep switch backs. My husband is always convinced I’ll fall off a mountain because I get distracted by the views! Keep moving to the Gazebo and you will have made it to the top. Lake Agnes on one side and Lake Louise on the other. We actually chose to walk down Plain of Glaciers trail in hopes to complete the loop, but our knees started acting up because we didn’t have hiking sticks to help support us. The switchbacks down the other side of the mountain gets you to flat ground and you can continue on to finish the loop, or head back toward Mirror lake to come down the way you started. We began our hike around 630/645am, and with the stops to take photos we got to the Teahouse right when it opened at 8am. Strongly suggest waking up early to do this hike. The solitude up at the top adds to the beauty!

Great hike. There is only one trail up/down, contrary to what’s shown on the guide. This trail is of moderate difficulty, getting more difficult as you approach the top of beehive. At the top, expect a great triple view of Lake Agnes, Mirror Lake, and Lake Louise.

We climbed the 6 glaciers path to avoid the world, then we joined Lake Agnes, and we continued to the top to have a magnificent view of Lake Louise! The laces are quite narrow but it's worth it. Then we went down again by Lake Agnes, Lake Mirror and to Lake Louise. A total of 15km of hiking.

not difficult. lots of view spot.

A nice easy hike , well worth walking beyond the tea house , views of lake Louise were beautiful and easy conditions. Plenty of spots to relax and bathe in the sun. We had a lovely sunny day.

Beautiful hike with stunning views! We hiked from Six Glaciers to Big Beehive and then went on to Lake Agnes Trail. It was a bit steep with switchbacks descending to Lake Agnes, hiking poles would have been nice to have for this section.

Excellent hike. Provides great views of Lake Agnes. Lots of switchbacks that are pretty narrow, so if you’re very afraid of heights or shaky on your footing, this might not be for you. My parents (60 years old) called some spots sketchy and were glad they had a hiking pole each. Once you get to the end of the switchbacks, you still have a ways to go up large boulders (easy to navigate in terms of footing- no climbing required) to get to the lookout point. The views from there are excellent. I was glad we did this early (around 8 am) because we didn’t have to share the narrow trail with many people going both directions. On the way down, there were a lot of people coming up, which made some tight spots even tighter.

Did this on July 27, 2019. There was heavy rain in the morning, so my brother and I ended up doing it in the early afternoon which had much better weather. The switchbacks at the end were pretty hard for us, but the views at the top were spectacular and totally worth it! Even along the way, the views were fantastic. Took us a little over two hours to get to the top with tons of short breaks.

The hike up to Lake Agnes was amazing nothing too steep well shaded most of the way and plenty of people in the trail. The last part of the trail up to the overlook was all in the sun. The Lake Agnes teahouse was a cute little teahouse. Well work the hike up. You will pass three lakes, Lake Louise, Mirror Lake and Lake Agnes. All very beautiful lakes each with distinct characteristics

Steep but views are worth it. Go early! Lots of people. Spend some time exploring the rocky area beyond Lake Agnes. Lots of hoary marmots here and my kids ages 9,11,14 loved it.

I would agree with the description in the rating. The walk from Lake Louise is definitely an easy to moderate. We were able to walk this without difficulty, only stopping to take pictures at Mirror Lake and Lake Agnus. The walk from Lake Angus to the Big Beehive was grueling. There are about 10 or 11 switchbacks and it is a huge incline. With that said the views at the top were incredible. They did not disappoint. Round trip took us about 3.5 hours. Worth every minute.

July 20, 2019 - some parts of the trail are quite muddy because of rain but should be manageable if you are wearing hiking shoes. Running shoes will work too. Probably the best hike I've done so far. Beautiful view of Lake Louise at the summit, and gorgeous view of mirror lake and lake agnes as you go up. Make sure to arrive early. We arrived at 12pm in the parking lot and we had to turn around 3 times to get a spot. There was about ~1mm of rain when we went there. Make sure you bring lots of water because this hike can get dehydrating if you go on a hot summer day. Will definitely go back!

Got to Lake Louise at 7 am on Sunday 21st of July and got one of the last spots in the parking lot. We did the Big Beehive trail first and loved it. Then we went up Devil’s thumb and that one was really tough. We are both in good shape but the way up was more like rock climbing at some points. The view from the top was breathtaking and of course totally worth it. Took us 6 hours in total with a lunch break at Devil’s and a few other snack breaks along the way.

We arrived at car park at 0545 & by 0600 there were 30 cars in the car park. Nice sunrise as we left. Great hike up to Lake Agnes tea house then around lake up to Big Bee Hive. We came back down to the 6Glaciers track closest to the tea house. As we were struggling with our fitness and not back to our usual fitness for hikes we turned left and headed back along lake. We had a couple of 15 min stops as well as “catch our breath” stops and it took us 7 hrs total. We are “seniors” though so for those in mid 60s it’s all possible.

My wife and I did this trail this morning plus some. We started at 615ish am. I recommend starting early bc parking at Lake Louise is insane. We hiked a little over 13 miles in about 7 hours while stopping to eat lunch, take pics, check out the tea houses, etc. We started on the Plain of Six Glaciers trail. It took us 1h20m to get to the tea house, then another 20min to get to the lookout. Well worth the extra time/effort. We then hiked down, took the Highline Connector to Big Beehive and up to the lookout which took about 1h30m. Going up Big Beehive is a grind but the views from the top are incredible. Then down to Lake Agnes, Mirror Lake, and back to the parking lot. Amazing day.

Arrived 8:15 and got the last parking spot at Lake Louise. Go early! It was toe to heel all the way to mirror lake. No one else on the back trail through the avalanche to lake Agnes. Moderate volume to Big Bee Hive. We then went down to Plain of 6 glaciers tea house. Very few travelers til we hit the trail coming down from Mirror Lake. It was a cold, wet slog from there to the tea house and back. Back in the car at 4pm. Would not have been pleased if I had to double back from a full lot.
