We did this trail starting July 29th with a group of 4, camping day 1 at lake Egypt, day 2 at ball pass, day three at shadow and day 4 we hiked out to hwy 1 via Twin lakes following the stream out. This trail is absolutely stunning. the trail is well traveled except last day where we had to do some trail finding in the beginning. If I had to do again I would skip shadow and head to twin lakes for the night. The wildflowers were in bloom, and the passes had views that are out of this world. Mosquitos were a challenge.

We did a 3 day tour along this route. We took a small detour to Egypt lake on day 1, and to a waterfall near scarab lake on Day 2. The trail is a fair bit longer then posted on AllTrails. We recorded it as 45km with our detours. Day 1: 15km 620m Day 2: 16km 630m Day 3: 14km 915m Highly recommend this route. The wildflowers and alpine lakes were so spectacular. Mosquitoes were bad at Egypt Lake camp. We found them no issue when moving. Shadow lake they were present but not bad at all. Really enjoyed this route.
