Moderate trail heading north from the Minnewanka lakeshore, hugging the canyon edge through forest, and ending at a rockpile by the edge of a river 1.5km north of the footbridge. Bear restrictions apply annually from July to September.

If you want a simple stroll through some trees, this is for you. This is in no why a “moderate hike.” It was so easy and the only view was a little waterfall. Not worth it.

beautiful trail.. closed shortly after bridge due to cougar feeding on carcass skating on the lake was a lot of fun.. bring a wind breaker

Awesome trail, a tad icy in spots. Saw some fairly fresh cougar prints following the path but they departed shortly so drew caution to that but did keep going. Great for kids and dogs on leash. Nice views of the lake as you go around it and the river canyon is pretty cool.

We did this hike up to the bridge - I believe it is a total of 1.5km that way. To continue to Alymer pass you need a group of 4 people and bear spray. It is a very quick hike. Nice to walk along the water. At times the path is very rocky and rooty.

Nice easy hike, we walked to the bridge and back. Definitely recommend also booking the boat cruise on the lake while there. Some spectacular views.

Nice to hike around the Lake Minnewanka. It’s pretty flat, easy to walk. I’ll come back again.

Beautiful hike along the river. Perfect short hike before an afternoon shift

Only did part of this and then got turned around by a sign saying you must have bear spray to continue. Wish that sign/warning was more prevalent before we started. Would have been good I think!

Trail had nice views up the canyon until pretty much the very end. The trail ended away from the water with no view in the middle of the woods.

Very nice hike and had we bear spray would have extended this to the shores of minnewanka and maybe Aylmer lookout. Next time perhaps! Enjoyed though and still tremendous views of the lake plus didn’t take too long.

Went pasted the end to the river. I went into the river that is ice cold glacier sourced. It was beautiful but not for the faint of heart. Literally

If you want to hike past the bridge, make sure you are in a group of 4 and that you have bear spray. You can’t go beyond without. It’s worth the short hike to the bridge-very beautiful. We were able to go beyond the bridge. No grizzly sightings until we were driving out of the park. Fun morning!

Beautiful hike along Lake Minnetonka for about a mile, then crossed over the Cascade Bridge and continued along the Cascade River for another mile! No sightings of the grizzlie! Not so many people on the trail, that's always a plus!! The canyon walks are incredible! Enjoy!

To the bridge is an easy walk. To the river was moderate hike in the woods, after crossing the small stream near the end you reach a sign that says the trail becomes poorly marked. we continued on but there was little to see and the trail was very poorly marked.

Nice and easy trail. We met deers, chipmunks and... a very curios Grizzly Bear very close to the wood bridge!!! Don't go without bear spray!

Easy addition to Minnewanke Lake-side trail. Nice view along the canyon but photo opps are best down by the bridge anyways.

This is a nice trail. Good condition and dry when I hiked it at the beginning of May. Not the most scenic, but still worthwhile if you’re in the area.

Fairly short and easy trail departing from Minnewanka, heading past the campgrounds and crossing the bridge to the east side of the canyon. Stay left and follow the canyon (rather than turning right and walking towards Aylmer like I accidentally did) until you reach the rockpile which allows you to drop down and walk to the edge of the water. Views of the canyon after the footbridge are fairly scarce because of the trees. Hiking in groups of 4 is mandatory after mid-July.

Nice and easy short hike, a lot of kids were doing it . If you go a few kilometres past the bridge you will get some amazing views from higher ground (although a gain elevation at the beginning)

It’s an alright walk. There is certain location with nice view points. Maybe it will look nicer when weather is warmer. Extremely easy to walk.
