I have done this trail multiple times with my family. The trail is a great family trail especially when kids are younger (when I was little I would try running up the steep parts). Be sure to sign the notebook at the top (under a tree in a pvc pipe tube). Gets pretty steep near the end but still fun.

Challenging hike with lots of ups and downs. Mosquitoes the size of pterodactyls, and lots of mud. The trail Head is a little hard to find. We parked about 500 meters past the river where you can see a clearing for power lines. Go left from there. It was August level dry and hot so wear shorts and sunscreen.

Quite a bit of snow near the top

Packed down and hardly any snow.

A nice and short climb with a great view of the foothills/prairie and the front ranges. I wouldn’t do it if it had rained in the last 24 hours or so, I can tell it would be muddy and the last climb would be very slippery. I’m interested now to explore the other options that end up here.

About a foot of snow, although light and powdery, it hid how muddy it was underneath. The big hill was deceptively muddy and slippery. Be careful. The top was obscured in low clouds today, very limited visibility. Pretty surreal

One of my favs for getting some elevation near the city. Well marked trails and a straight forward ridge climb over rolling grassy hills to the summit. Starts in the forest and ascends through to great South and Eastern views of Calgary and the Foothills. Often see elk and deer in the valleys, and no crowds.

This is a great hike summer or winter or midnight! You can start at the west or east location and you are on top under 1 hour. Fantastic views and great at night when you can see Calgary’s lights.
