Nice casual walk in the inner city of Okotoks. If you don’t have the time and Kananaskis country is quite ready, this is an option to get out a stroll along the Sheep River pathway system. Gets quite breezy, so don’t forget your shell!

Dec 16/19. A good pre-Costco walk! City has done an excellent job keeping the pathways basically snow and ice free. Just a few spots where melted ice crossing the pathway has refrozen - so proceed with caution. Sun was shining so it was good to get out and stretch the legs before a Costco run! Didn’t actually complete the loop as per the trail map. On the return, we crossed the river at the foot bridge and back tracked on the north side of the river back to the parking lot.

Lovely river walk with an asphalt trail and on the south side of the river there are options to follow some dirt trails. Deer are plentiful and it’s a peaceful walk. Benches are scattered along the trail for anyone who needs them. Must stay aware of bicyclists who use the trail too.
