An alternate decent of Prairie Mountain via its NW Ridge eventually joining up with Prairie Creek trail. Turns Prairie Mountain into a loop instead of an out and back.

Amazing and challenging hike! Would recommend it to anyone who is new and wants a good view and an amazing hike. Me and my group made the mistake of going across the lake then up, it's easier to go straight up to Prairie view then down jewel pass as it makes the hike easier. We went up jewel pass which the views were amazing, but the hike was harder going up that way and slippery down through prarier view. If you go in the fall expect snow, rain and dress warm.

This hike is a great one to warm up for the hiking season and gives beautiful 360 views at the summit.

Careful going down. Steep.

Great hike. Not much traffic on a Friday morning. Steep ascent doing the trail counter clockwise. The descent would be quite wet, muddy and slick after some rain. I would consider this moderate to hard due to the heat on this day.

Steep incline for the first 40-50min (longer or shorter depending on how many breaks you take), then beautiful ridge and fairly smooth descent, good workout.

Great day and a lot of people out for Mothers Day. Trail was completely dry and the views were spectacular in all directions. A great little challenging hike close in to Calgary/Bragg Creek area.

Lots of snow but the trail is packed down. It took me about 3.25 hours with a bunch of up hill at the link.

Great winter conditions for micro-spikes with packed trail around the whole loop. Excellent views from the top in all directions.

A great alternative to the out and back for Prairie Mountain. Going down the backside allows for a more gentle descent.

Things have gone downhill up top recently though, the nice couple that ran the bodega have retired and it's now a Tim Hortons. I realize it's remote, but $15 for a danish is not reasonable. Pack your own lunch.
