After a series of switchbacks youll be rewarded with dramatic views of the Saskatchewan Glacier headwaters of the Saskatchewan River. This is a must do trail along the Icefields Parkway. Help maintain this fragile alpine ecosystem by staying on the trail. Fairly short trail with most of the climbing at the start as the trail quickly gets above the sparse tree cover around the trail-head and then bends southeast. Once you reach the bend, when it level outs, you will start to get views of the glacial valley with the Saskatchewan Glacier on the northern end. Continue to walk to the end of the trial as the views only get better, look across the valley to the opposite ridge to view multiple waterfalls.

Wonderful, easy hike up to the ridge and stunning views. Very windy, come prepared. Path is icy snow, hiking poles help. Please stay on trail.

Great easy hike to expansive views of the Saskatchewan Glacier below. Switchbacks for about a mile up before the trail reaches the ridge and the views begin. The hike to the end of the trail gives the best views but the slope gets pretty exposed, with the thin, rocky trail passing through a steep scree field. Still, a good reward for relatively little expended effort. We got there relatively early (10 AM) and the lot was nearly full. Up and down in about 2.5 hours, with ample time to gawk at the views and take a lot of photos.

This is a fairly easy hike. Lots of kids and dogs on this trail. As with any hike, the earlier you get there the less crowded it will be. The views are spectacular!! I’d do this hike again just for the views alone .. loved it. It was chilly and windy on the ridge so be prepared to add a layer of clothing.

Great views for a moderate hike!!! Super worth it!! Make sure you keep going, don’t stop at first view.

Amazing hike! One of the very best in the Canadian Rockies- it’s a short hike but not easy - it’s a continuous uphill trek to the top. However it’s so worth the effort as the views are incredible. The view of the Saskatchewan Glacier can only be got from the top of the ridge and it’s breathtaking!!

This relatively short hike takes you quickly past the tree line and offers great views along the ridge. Once at the top there are even more trails that offer even better views. One trail takes you down a little to view the glaciers. Another trail takes you up another hundred or so feet to that has great views of Mount Athabasca and the surrounding mountains. The hike was short and steep bu the views made it 100% worth it.

Amazing views for relatively little effort.

A steep but short trail with amazing views and photo ops at the top. Really gorgeous and worth the stop. One can explore the web of trails along the ridges but the best views were straight ahead once you reach the top. Buggy during the climb. Windy and very cool at the top as the wind is blowing off the glacier.

Awesome hike! We did this hike during our day driving along the Icefields Parkway. Was trying to decide between this hike and Wilcox, but very happy we did this one! From what I understand (I could be wrong) Wilcox looks out onto glaciers that can already be seen from the road, Parker Ridge looks out onto one that can't be seen from the road and it definitely has an epic view at the top! Very steep hike, but I think we did it in about 2 hours. Bring bug spray, mosquitoes come out near the lower part of the trail.

Highly recommend a stop here if you're driving the icefields parkway. Nice views most of the way up, with an awesome view of a glacier at the top. Definitely a highlight of our trip to Banff/Jasper

Loved this hike especially the ridge walk at the end. Totally worth the uphill to get there! Great views.

A lot of switchbacks in some growing evergreens. It's a fun outlook over a glacier. My boyfriend really enjoyed this hike a lot more than I expected.

Great views at the top. Went up in early July and the bugs devoured me and my son in 2 minutes! Take insect repellant. A lot of uphill at the beginning, make sure you walk around at the top and take in the different views.

Stunning views amongst the crowds. Summit to the right is a nice excursion. Best spot to see the ice floes without bus tours in the way

The payoff for not a whole lot of effort is incredible. Long view of the Saskatchewan Glacier then a long view down the wall.

A dozen switchbacks to start you off but they aren’t too steep. At the top the trail becomes a web of trails. Plenty to explore. Amazing to go a couple hours before sunset. Four stars because of all the mosquitos. Couldn’t enjoy the top as long as I’d have liked because of them. So many mosquitos.

Great trail for breaking in the legs. Pretty intense climb to the top for us Floridians, but the view at the top was excellent.

Relatively quick, but also somewhat challenging as it is basically straight up ~900 vertical feet to views of the glacier. It took us just around 2 hours round trip, with a short stop at the end to enjoy a snack and the scenery. Be prepared for changing weather as it was very nice out when we started (around 9:30 am), but when we neared the end it was cold and raining. We needed fleeces and rain coats. Also saw two foxes along the trail!

Tons of switch backs but well worth it at the end. The view is amazing and there’s tons of spots you can pull out to chill at the end.

We did the trail yesterday on the way from Banff to Jasper. Although it's relatively short it was quite challenging due to the mix of mud and snow along the way. The view at the top of the glacier was well worth it. We stopped several times along the way to catch our breath and take pictures and still did the whole thing in under two hours. If you have the time, you should do this hike during your drive.

This trail offered stunning views during the entire hike, from trailhead to summit. The trail was completely snowed under in late October, but there were enough markers and trail railings after treeline to keep you on track. An absolute must, and the drive to the trail was gorgeous.

Can't say enough great things about this trail. Power through the switchbacks for one of the most rewarding short hikes along the Parkway. And each time you rest, the view gets better and better. Be prepared for lots of wind!

Beautiful hike with views of the glacier. The path to the top which is about 200ft further up offers better views of the valley and glacier.
