Good late fall hike, started with no snow at the start to about 6” of snow at the top, just disappointed the lake was frozen, but had a beautiful blanket of untouched snow. will definitely go back in the summer. Had no problem finding the trail going up on the north side, there was signage and flagging tape to get you there.

Great hike to a good-as-it-gets alpine lake. Amazing fall color when we went. We did the south trail first and looped back on the north. There was construction at the beginning of the south trail when were there (which is more of a road at the start). Construction aside, the north is more rustic and offers better views. If you pick one, go with that one.

Very nice hike. Only problem was to find a trailhead. We got lost but thanx to recording on this app we realized it 1 hour into wrong way. We had 2 dogs with us. Went to South Haig Lake trail. Steady claim uphill and you need to be prepared for wild life. We were pleasantly surprised how small Haig Lake actually and how beautiful everything looked. On the way back we found some bear droppings that werent there before and also small droppings looked like fox or coyote.

Great hike, we did this with 2 dogs no problems. We took the south trail first. First bit of the trail was up a service road, then the trail started near the chairlift. The trail head was hard to find at the top as it is behind some electrical building with a loud fan. Once on the trail everything was marked fine. The lake and hike was lots if fun. We took the North trail on the way back. it was hard to find the trail head but once on it was a very noticeable trail, just follow all the "cinch traverse" signs and you will be fine. Overall a great hike even with all the smoke.

Really enjoyed this trail! I would suggest going up via the South Mount Haig Lake trail. It’s a much more gradual climb. We then looped around and came back via North Mount Haig Lake trail, which is along the cinch traverse ski run. Also suggest climbing the small, rocky hill behind the lake. Makes for some great views looking down at the lake. Would definitely do this hike again!

beautiful lake and scenery once you get through the first bit. had a difficult time finding the trailhead at 1st.. this map shows the trail starting and heading straight up a ski run, but it is best to take the road that switchbacks up near the top of the chairlift and thats where the actual trail starts (south haig lake trail....theres also a north haig lake trail). climbing up the road wasnt fun as it was hot and dusty and steep but once past that it was much more enjoyable! but was worth it as the destination was beautiful! dogs loved it too!

Steep and tiring to start while hiking under the lift. Tough to find the trail head as well, BUT once you get through the first push, the top is stunning and the lake at the top is AMAZING! Love it!

We are regulars to castle mountain resort in all seasons and absolutely love this hike! The first half or so you are mounting the bottom quarter of the ski hill and so it is quite steep and exposed. Gorgeous lake at the end as well as stunning views out into the mountains across. Would highly recommend; let's get more summer traffic out at castle! :)

Me and group of 8 really wanted to try our hand at night hiking and this trail was perfect for our first time. The trail is easy to navigate so it wasn’t difficult in the dark. The destination is worth the quick hike.

Horrible hike, beautiful destination.
You basically hike up the ski hill, ugly, not covered, steep but once you start into the bush then it starts being beautiful and the lake itself is amazing. When I went they really didn't have the turn off well marked so we missed it on the way up and down.
