The majority of the hike is actually quite easy with long stretches of flat and smooth terrain. The trail starts off easy, but then you descend about 100 metres over a distance of around 600 metres. Take care as the trail has large loose rocks in places here. After this initial elevation drop, the trail is mostly flat with some gentle up and downs. There are some great views of the two Moose Mtn peaks as well as Prairie Mtn along the way. Once above the tree line, it becomes more challenging, especially if you decide to go all the way to the fire lookout. The final hike up to the fire lookout is the most challenging and technical part of the hike. Take care here as the slope is very steep and there are some areas with a lot of loose rocks and scree. The views from the fire lookout or the Moose Mtn Northeast peak are quite amazing. I did the hike in and out in to the fire lookout in about 3 hours and 15 minutes with my 8 year old son. That time does not include the required pit stops and lunch along the way. Allow at least 5 hours if you are hiking with children or want to spend some time at the summits. You spend a lot of time out in the open exposed to the elements, so ensure you have sunscreen or something to cover up.

Had a great solo hike here a few days ago, wonderful lady at the lookout too! Just over 3.5 hours out and back. The last km back makes the return trip seem harder than the rest of the hike!

Very nice hike. Trail is well maintained and easily identifiable, no getting lost on this one. Lots of different landscape and scenery. A bit of a scramble to the top but worth it. The lady at the lookout was fantastic, so friendly!! Will definitely do again. Took around 4.25 hours with a stop at the top for lunch.

One of the best hikes in the area. the path of the hike gives you some views of where you are going to go. Trail is well maintained and clear. Coming to the top of the first peak, where you see the final peak revealed was a great moment. The last stretch of trail was challenging but rewarding. Make sure to bring a cracker for the fat chipmunk at the helipad.

Very nice hike, huge thunderstorm rolled right over top just as we were about to summit and had to run back down, will definitely be back.
