well that escalated quickly, surprise leg day. muddy af right now but fun, it's kind of like choose your own adventure in there, easy to veer off onto a side trail. at the top of the loop you're better off going right to the paved path and then loop back in unless you want to parkour down a crevice across a broken bridge/bike ramp(slightly dramatic). great to have in the city!

HikingGreat!Muddy

It's pretty muddy still, all the snow is gone from the trail, there still is a lot of ice in the creek right now. But honestly, you want to get the feel of a solid forested hike without leaving the city, we are extremely lucky to have this in Edmonton. Definitely check it out, bring your kids, bring your dog, wear rubber boots! It's really muddy right now.

We did this trail as a family with small children. It was much harder than expected and the warm weather didn’t help, as everything was mud or ice. Everything was so slippery and steep, and everyone around us, including us kept falling. There is no signage and you easily get discombobulated. Make sure you wear crampons! I could see this place being BEAUTIFUL in the summer though. We’ll try it again as a family in better weather.

As a winter inner city trial this is a great walking or hiking trail. I tried hiking with spikes and poles. I expected a 1-2 hour trip and ended up with a challenging 3 hour hike. Tip: when leaving the trailhead go right under the bridge. You soon get into steep narrow trails along the embankment. I travelled for about a km before turning around went across the creek along the other side. You pass the trailhead to go the other way. There are some good narrow trails along here. Eventually make you way down to the creek for the return trip. You won’t regret it!!

This trail may be short but has some very steep and dangerous icy sections. To complete this trail as laid out it would be good idea to take your hiking polls and wear crampons. There is a rope pull up where the trail is washed out over a small ravine and the creek must be crossed because of the missing bridge. It is winter now and the creek is frozen, however in summer this trail would be difficult.

There are many small landslides to watch out for and a bridge is out requiring some scrambling across a small ravine. Otherwise good route with nice views.

Challenging little hike the bridge being out and a rope thrown across was a surprise but we managed to get through not sure where 9.8 km is though?
