The challenging uphill felt a lot longer than the 1km people talked about. The views are fantastic. The steep downhill section is very cobbly and unenjoyable. Lots of exposure so wear sunscreen! There were some muddy and icy sections on north facing slopes but we just wore hiking shoes.

The views were gorgeous. A bit muddy in parts and a few muddy slippery steeper sections, but overall it was great.

Very enjoyable loop, not many people, did it counter clockwise as suggested and the views were superb. It is a very steep trail both going up and coming down off the ridge, then it is quite flat coming back. Thoroughly enjoyed this early spring jaunt. A bit wet, but not too bad wear good boots.

If you like the walking and not so much for exposure and elevation, this is perfect! Counter clockwise is the way to do by foot for sure, the ascent is far more beautiful and your walking into the views the whole time! Early morning start proved favourable, solid ground. No real need for the kahtoolas today. Once the sun hit the icy dirt it was muck. The push for the ascent is pretty much from the start. The descent was suburb, we went with a more defined trail when you hang the left from the cut line. Fantastic weather today! There was quit a bit of gun shots from the surrounding area, is there a shooting range around here?

Beautiful trail - will be a lot better once it dries out a bit. Don’t be deterred by the ice/mud/water at the beginning as it gets a lot better once you’re on the actual trail. Went with my dog and as far as I could tell I was the only person out there aside from some OHV users at the beginning. Really liked this trail!

March 31, 2021 | A windy day on Lesueur Ridge but a great day nonetheless. The trail is a little muddy but it was easily avoidable. The start is a little steep, but it is perfect as a warm-up shoulder season hike for more intense peaks this summer. I loved how it was quiet (we had the trail and highway pretty much to ourselves) and there were great views of the mountains in the distance.

Followed the advice to go counter clockwise which was good. Very uphill for the first half. A couple of spots were unclear for direction and we didn’t see any red ribbons. The trail head wasn’t immediately clear and I never saw a sign for it. Not busy at all. If it had been less muddy, this would have been a 5/5. Make sure you have waterproof boots and spikes were helpful. It was a beautiful day and not too windy. Looking forward to doing this hike again as the trail dries up a bit more.

Extremely windy today on the trail. Steep on the way up (glad I had poles). All four seasons on the trail today (snow, ice, mud and dry dirt). A number of mountain bikers on the trail otherwise not busy. The turnoff to start the loop after reaching the top isn’t clear and crampons were needed as it was super icy going down (some other groups missed it). It was a nice trail with the view at the top and the foothill trail at the end but probably not one to call home about (maybe better in the summer).

We went counterclockwise and concur that is the way to go. Big ascent for us rewarded with spectacular views of the Rockies, Waiparous Creek and it’s Canyon walls. Gorgeous walk through aspen groves (muddy spots) and old growth fir trees. Unfortunately there were people shooting shotguns in the valley and, we discovered, in our direction as we rejoined the fork. Very unnerving.

Trail is muddy and a bit icy in spots. We went counterclockwise and recommend this method. Great views and some neat geology and trees.
