SnowshoeingGreat!

The hills were ALIVE with the sound of laughter. Plenty of snow, a fairly straightforward path but our snowshoes were a necessity along the entire hike. Beautiful views and the weather was PERFECT! Met a few skiers along the way in some untracked powder

Snowshoeing

REALLY good weather-wise. Sunny. No wind. Deep tracked snow along the majority of the ascent. Beyond that, the alpine meadow portion required breaking trail through deep untouched powder. Route finding difficulties were encountered, but there was ski tracked trail leading parallel towards the lake. Did not make it to the lake due to shortness of daylight. Regardless, it was a fantastic day on the snowshoes.

Awesome trail! Lots of variety of terrain on the way up. Tons of roots in the beginning so be careful not to trip! All of the elevation gain happens in spurts along the trail, but is always followed by flat ground so you can catch your breath. Helen Lake at the end is honestly nothing spectacular but the views along the way make up for it! Highly recommend! Took us about 2 hours up and just under 2 hours down... the views on the descent are spectacular and in my opinion beat the views on the way up! Happy hiking!

awesome hike. Wide variety of trail types, starting with dirt and roots, then rocky, then above the tree line it was dirt. Lots of streams to fill up a water bottle. Not too busy, but not empty.

Lovely and frequently changing views. Quiet trail. Some very fresh bear sign on the way up though.

We did this hike on September 10 (no smoke yet). Parking lot was relatively empty on arrival. This is a favourite hike and have done it many times. Trail was the least crowded have ever seen (likely due to Covid-19) which made for a great hike. Views of Katherine and Helen Lakes from ridge above lake were very good. Other than ground squirrels (only heard Pika's): no wildlife to be seen on this visit.

I’m a beginner hiker and though it was tough, I did it at a moderate pace. Weather was perfect, views are spectacular! The pass after the lake is also beautiful and a must

HikingGreat!

The trail was through the woods for the beginning and then opened up into alpine meadows scenery which was our favorite part and the most beautiful as well. The lake was alright but not spectacular, we took a break for lunch and headed back. There was no smoke when we where there which was nice. We enjoyed the way there quite a bit and took many photos of the alpine above the tree line. It took us 3.5 hrs return at a good steady pace with a short break for lunch at the top

Unfortunately it was very smokey the day we went out, normally you would have amazing views looking back at Crowsfoot Glacier. Still a very enjoyable hike with beautiful meadow and forest sections.

Beautiful scenery and straight forward hike, would say more moderate than hard (unless you continue on and do cirque peak)

Hiking

Completed July 4, 2020. It snowed the entire hike which obscured the views for the most part, but what we could see was great. The stream before the meadow was quite high and made for some wet feet. Meadow was covered in knee deep snow, so only went as far as the lake, pass was not possible. I will definitely have to revisit this one.

It’s an easy hike, not sure why it’s rated as hard. We went past the lake and to the summit of Cirque Peak which made it a Hard day but well worth it. Beautiful views.

Decent 12 km round trip hike. I am an intermediate hiker and found this one at the same level. It's a nice balance of inclines and declines all the way to the lake. We started super early so the lake color wasn't that turquoise however water was very nice and clear. We finished whole hike in 4 hours with waiting and taking lots of pictures almost an hour hold. Great views all the way worth a shot.
