One of my favorites in the Rockies. The views at the top are otherworldly.

Amazing views from the top of the ridge, east of Guinn’s Pass. The loose rock is a pain, but nothing technical, just takes time.

Hiked through Guinns Pass from Ribbon Lake Campground through Galatea Creek trail out. The ascent is fierce but beautiful.

Did this hike yesterday and there was plenty of snow! Down low, even before Lillian Lake, there was up to an inch but this melted throughout the day. Hike was pretty straightforward though I would say more a moderate level for the conditions we did it in. After Guinn’s pass we continued a bit higher on the ridge of Mount Kidd. To get to the high point here only probably took 20 minutes, but snow way around 6 inches deep. All together, we did 7 hours with a break for lunch. Bear footprints spotted throughout trail to pass and black bear seen at the end but quite a distance away.

Views from top are splendid... Do note that it isn't 1 kilometre from the Galatea Lakes junction but 1.7 KM. Bugs were an issue. Also, so many hikers walking dogs on such a rocky terrain.

A nice diverse hike that cross crosses the creek and mostly through the trees until Galatea Lakes. The hike is not too challenging for seasoned hikers. The trail’s a little muddy due to recent rain. Once you hit the Galatea Lakes and take the trail towards the pass, the views become infinitely more spectacular, making it all worth it. Ignore the sign at the turn towards the pass....the distances listed are completely wrong. Ribbons Lake is listed as 0.3 kms when it is actually more like 3 kms. The trail from this point on is well maintained and at no point requires any scrambling. The wildflowers were out in all their glory yesterday. Once at the pass, I continued up higher for a look at Ribbons Lake. Took me 6.5 hours all around with lots of stops for soaking it all in.

Trail is in good condition. After the fork towards the pass (near Galatea Lakes), the wildflowers are quite beautiful. However, as mentioned below, the distances on the trail sign are incorrect. Shout out to the woman we met on the pass who suggested we hike a bit further up to Mount Kidd's ridge. Arguably the best views on the trail were seen here. Great view over Ribbon Lake. Highly recommend adding Guinn's Pass to your Lillian Lake/Galatea Lakes hike! Consider staying overnight at Lillian Lake if you want more time to enjoy the scenery.

Trail through the forest is beautiful and lush. Hike isn't challenging and is a gradual climb the entire way with a few "steep" parts. Zero scrambling. Really only starts to become a workout after Lillian Lake. I recommend heading up Mount Kidd's southern ridge upon getting to the pass and reaching the high point there. You'll have even more incredible views and it involves little extra effort. Only tackle Mount Kidd's southern route from the pass if you're very confident in scrambling along a very steep ridge.

The hikes starts to get challenging and steep starting from Lillian Lake, mainly because of the rocky path for a lot of this hike. I find it harder to come down when it is so steep and rocky, so I take my time on the way down. The views are breathtaking from Galatea to Guinn’s Pass and came across a couple of bighorn sheep as well! On top of the pass and a bit further, you come across the view of Ribbon Lake and the Ribbon Creek valley - spectacular view! Took me nearly 8 hours in total, keeping in mind that I took my time during this hike with several pauses and for picture taking. Cheers!

My most favorite hike in this area so far. The new trail to Guinn's pass is well built and offers unbelievable views all the way to the pass with balanced an steady ascent. We did end to end hike from Galatea trail head to Ribbon creek parking lot in about 8 hours. Beautiful and rewarding hiking trail.. highly recommended!!

So hard. So rewarding. I recommend staying night 1 at Lillian lake. Hiking the pass day 2 and staying at ribbon lake. And hiking out day 3 along the ribbon day use trail. Needs 2 cars but much more manageable.
