The trailhead begins along Mount Norquay Road. It is a pleasant and pretty walk along a flat looped trail through the forest and alongside a small creek. There are some views of the Rockies through trees along the way and the trail is wide and well maintained.

Trail is in good condition except Parks Canada on trail pursuing a Grizzly bear that just entered the area. Parks Canada was concerned about the bear and asked us to depart the area.

Pretty, I saw some elk! However, because of the elk, a park ranger was shoeing people off the trail in a wildly unfriendly manner. Sort of tarnished the whole day...

Great walking loop! Short, easy walk along a small, winding river. Very picturesque in the winter.

This is an alright trail. If you're bored in Banff this is a nice place to go because it is only a 15 minute walk from Banff Ave or if you park at The Fenlands Rec Centre it's less than 5. It's quite buggy and takes about 30 minutes moving slowly, but you can make it longer by walking over to the Vermillion lakes, which is a nice place to have a meal if you packed food out and a gorgeous place to see the sunrise. They have self-guiding tour panflipts so you can learn about the area as you go.

great beautiful hike. you do not get a opening to the beautiful mountain in the photos unless you also go onto the vermillion lakes trail. make sure you bathe in bug spray. other than that it is a gorgeous magical nature hike. enjoy!

It was super nice and relaxing. It is surrounded by trees and a beautiful creek. It wasn’t difficult one bit but it was very beautiful and a nice place for a stroll. No elevation rise at all so perfect for all people. It is kind of hard to see where the trail ends so make sure you don’t do a second loop :).

Not a hike but a walk, very cute with some cool views I didn’t know existed. Super easy and high traffic! Takes like 20 minutes if you walk slowly

nice trail. Flat, easy to follow. Not "accessible" and saw 2 folks with crutches. 2 limbs across trail, but easily stepped over.

Nice easy trail that gets you away from the hustle and bustle of town. Black bear just off the track today at mid afternoon

Beautiful quiet relaxing walk, ideal for small children, new walkers and strollers, it's short but you can make it as long as you want if you got little explorers! we enjoyed this walk after a very sunny hot day in tunnel mountain, so the shade was very welcomed! kids loved spotting the different vegetation and the kayakers

Easy short walk just outside of the Banff townsite. Fully reconstructed following floods a few years ago, following a creek through a forest area with a few openings. Good trail condition and no elevation gain. Not such a spectacular trail, but has nice views of Echo Creek and the fallen trees laying across it. Can hear the highway at the northern end of the loop. Good for spotting wildlife as the trail backs onto Vermilion Lakes so elk, deer and bears may be common. BRING BEAR SPRAY. Given the location next to the lakes, bears are regularly seen here and have closed the trail multiple years. Don't get complacent because the trail is so close to the town. The dense trees and stumps mean bears may camouflage easily if you aren't paying attention, I only avoided an encounter because I heard someone shout about a bear being present a little way ahead of me.

Easy, short hike really close to town. No elevation and a wide path. Can make the walk a little longer by going out to Vermillion Lakes. Was muddy in places with the ice melting. Saw lots of squirrels, some deer and elk. A few runners on the trail. #HikingWithHarri

March 31: Nice short walk. Maybe 30mins to complete. No elevation climb. Very muddy in some areas. River was still frozen over on the edges. Views were nice with the mountains peaking through the trees. Strollers will be ok on dry summer days. Minimal parking at trail head. There is another lot down the road. Septic toilets beside the parking lot.

Nice mix of dense and open forest to enjoy the views. Natural yet accessible, nice little bridges along the route. Evidence of elk grazing in the area. Ends at the Banff sign for a photo op
