Please see the park page here for information about current COVID-19 and road closures: https://www.pc.gc.ca/en/pn-np/ab/banff/visit/covid-19-info Fairview Mountain Summit is a well-maintained trail from Lake Louise that becomes a bit of a scramble once you get to Saddleback Pass. Be aware of early-season avalanche conditions, as you cross several avalanche paths to get here. Consider microspikes if you can see snow on the mountain from the highway. Hiking poles are also recommended.

Very windy at the top. Enjoyed it and loved the views. If you pace yourself it’s very doable even for older people.

Amazing hike! I found it pretty easy, 2 hours to summit and spent 45min at the top taking in all the views. 3.5 hours round trip. The weather was perfect and it wasn’t very windy on top. Highly recommend

HikingGreat!Scramble

This hike was a serious climb from the very start! Straight up you go! Great path and easy to follow! The scramble was serious stuff but slow and steady and you’re there! Take your time and take it all in! The summit was incredible! 360 views of Beauty! Only thing missing was yodelling! I loved this hike with my whole heart! Took 5 hours round trip because of LOTS of stops for the views! Met up with two wonderful woman and hiked up with them! Absolute Gems! This is why I’m hooked on hiking! People are good out here! Poles weren’t used much, probably could have done without them! And good boots are a must! I’m on cloud nine! Joyous day! Thank you Lake Louise for your inspiration! Onward I go...

HikingGreat!

Excellent condition. Well defined to saddleback and then steeper to summit proper. So fortunate with the weather - shorts and sunscreen in early October. Blue sky, no wind and 20 degrees.

Awesome views! Worth the grind past the saddle. Poles recommended for the descent.

Hiking

This is an amazing hike away from the crazy crowds but still in Lake Louise area. The first half of the hike up to the saddle has a steady incline but still a relatively easy walk through the forest. The Larch trees are all changing color and very beautiful right now! From the saddle up to the summit is a long slog up steep incline with loose rock under foot. I'd highly recommend poles! The views from the summit are well worth the effort though, 360 degrees of pure amazing! Temple, Plain of the Six Glaciers, Icefields Parkway, and of course Lake Louise are all on full display. Wonderful day!

No scrambling necessary to summit. It is like Ha Ling but less steep. The views of Temple are phenomenal. It snowed a little bit today but it won’t stay long.

Completed August long weekend, 2015. Oddly, I made no notes in my hike journal, but we didn't go past Saddleback for some reason.

HikingGreat!

Great hike, my first summit hike in Banff. Trail was easily marked on the way up and fairly easy/rewarding for the views. On the way down just remember the sharp right turn when you go parallel across the mountain. Some people detour and go down left instead of right, which is a far steeper decent. Had to back track up a bit to find the turn. Would recommend good shoes and hiking poles.
