Trails all over the place, you can go off trail or on as most of the brush is low and sparse enough to find your way around. There is a huge river running through the middle but everywhere else is like a desert with cactus and dry grass and low trees and bushes.

Dry Island Buffalo Jump is really unique! We spent a couple hours hiking around looking at the different rock formations. We were a group with a wide variety of ages from 7 months to 62 years. We stayed on the lower trails and it was easy enough for our two year old to navigate. Keep dogs on leash because there are quite a few cactus. There’s also a nice picnic area with toilets and boat launch access to the Red Deer river.

Beautiful scenery, amazing valley. worth the drive. recommend for anybody. not much for trails but that makes it that much more fun.

Spectacular views! Trails are not well marked so just be cautious and take your time. So much fun. Enjoyed the warm and shallow river. Lovely fire pits and picnic tables in private grassed areas. A water refill station. Pit toilets were clean. Absolutely beautiful!!! Hidden treasure, well worth the drive.

Girlfriend, myself and the pup spent some time here last weekend. My advice... plan a trip when it will be dry! the clay and mud makes the area extremely slick when wet. But overall the scenery was great. There isn't an obvious trail by any means so you can adventure on your own terms. Lots of beautiful plant life from cacti to Lilies.

You can definitely challenge it when wet and have some amazingly hilarious memories to take away with, your choice!

We tried to follow the track shown on the All Trails site but quickly lost it. There is no marked or even well used track to follow. We followed deer trails and instinct to loop through the fields around the back of the mesa and then climbed up the mesa from the north. Took some real route finding skills to figure out a way around the ravines and gullies to the top. Beautiful up there. Tough again on the way down. Still no trail and some treacherous footing but we made it. Overall a great place and we had a real adventure (take lots of water and then add one more).

Interesting hike with good variety of scenery. Seemed to be more a collection of deer trails rather then one established trail. We parked near the boat launch and found a trail and started walking. Cacti, wild flowers and saw a deer. Eventually ,we walked to the river and made our way back to the boat launch. There were a few crevasses and a creek to cross, but we problem solved and found ways to cross including two bridges.

This is one of my favorite places to visit. The hike is beautiful. There is also a day use are and the river is there as well. Feels as though you have come across a new world! Highly recommend for a day trip!

Beautiful scenery, lots to see but no clear trails. We found a few that seemed like deer paths which were cool to follow though and the dogs loved it.

We thought this place was so cool. But no trail to follow. Unique scenery and even found a petrified buffalo skull.

No trail is marked. The scenery is bland so to speak and nothing remarkable about it.

If you are from Calgary, other places are closer and are much better than this trail.

My most favourite place in the world. Whether sitting at the lookout, hiking / driving down to the river, sunrise breakfasts / sunset suppers, swimming, or relaxing by a fire it’s amazing. This place leaves you feeling connected to the earth and your heart. If you’re quiet enough you can see the deer, birds, and coyotes enjoying the surroundings as well. Beautiful.

This place is so much better than the photos show! And it’s priceless to be in such beauty with hardly anyone else around. Will go back for sure.
