The Town of Devon is the furthest point west in the River Valley Alliance Trail and Park system. The residents of Devon take pride in their community and the North Saskatchewan River plays a vital role in their everyday lives. Devon is home to some of the only accessible beachfront in the entire river valley system. It is just 15 minutes from Edmonton, and is a member of the Devonian Way Group, which is a group of tourism attractions and services that operate within 10 minutes of Devon. Devon's Voyageur Park is Devon's newest park area. Located at the end of Saskatchewan Avenue West along the North Saskatchewan River, this area include a boat Launch, picnic tables, gazebo and washroom facilities. Voyager Park is a great family park with easy access to the river and a fantastic trail system that is great for all ages. This is one of the few areas in the region where there is large sections of beachfront to walk along. Starting from the main parking lot, you immediately pass the boat launch and enter a wide, well maintained trail system. At different points, you can easily access the beach front. The trail system is dotted with information signage about the trail and the wildlife you may encounter. Turning up the path, you reach another parking area and a green space where the Town can hold events such as Popcorn in the Park, which is a free outdoor family movie for the kids to enjoy. You will also encounter signage about the partnership between Devon and the River Valley Alliance, who have helped contribute to the development of this park. Passing through the open area, you enter a treed trail then find yourself in another large open area with plenty of picnic tables and a supply of wood near by. Carrying on, you will come out by the main picnic area which has a play area for kids and public restrooms. Many locals spend their lunch hours down in this area. It is a very pleasant park and an enjoyable walk.
