HikingGreat!

The gravel parking lot was small and had only space for a few cars. It was a easy hike the trail leading to the lake was amazing we were surrounded with burnt trees and beautiful yellow wildflowers(fires from 2017) . The lake was flooded from the rain.

Waterton Kenow Fire (2017) had closed most trails including Crandall Campground. BUT Red Rock Canyon road was open to pedestrian and cycle traffic. It was great to have the road on a bike to yourself. On our way we saw a bear and cub. There is a service road (+bridge) which will take you from the Red Rock Road to the trail head of Crandell Lake to avoid the closed campsite. We locked our bikes then hiked to the lake. Narrow path at times question the viability of pushing a bike but some DID successfully. Good lake with evidence of the fire. From here the trail was OPEN to get over to Akamina Parkway which the first 10 km from Waterton were closed for blasting rock.

Hiked this in March, lots of snow on the ground still which made it more of a challenge. Did it a second time but came in through the campground side with the family.

Highway closed to cars this year after the fire, 2018. this was a favorite hike and place to swim. I think they are allowing access to pedestrians and bicycles

We love doing this trail as our beginning and end of season hikes! It has a very convenient shelter so if it snows you have a place to dry off!

Unless you're going camping in the campground or fishing, no reason to do this trail. It's short not challenging with not much to see.

Great trail. We went late April. Still a lot of snow. I recommend continuing towards the campground to get to the lakeside with some shore to explore. Skipping rocks and some BBQ areas and only a few min farther.
