Hiked on May 2nd, 2020. You have to walk in and out of the stream, so prepare to get wet, do not bring small dogs. Was kind of a lame hike, and the end point wasn’t that great. The views are okay throughout, but I wouldn’t do it again.

Hardly any snow/ice left on the trail, tons of good crossings to zigzag the streams as you go. no need for microspikes. I hike very often and post pics on instagram @kylescoronalife if you're interested in scoping some pics (feel free to ask questions about locations, parking, etc)

only a little bit of snow left on trail

This is an extremely easy hike and should have its rating changed. I would even venture to say that it’s a little boring. Spikes are not needed and you can easily do it in runners. The trail head is very easy to find.

Very quiet trail, only saw 2 other people once over the debris net. Easy route. I wore crampons because packed snow can be slippery and annoying to walk on. I turned around shortly after the ice wall (not super impressive but still neat). Overall, nice walk along river bed with turns and tall mountains on both sides that make you seem small.

I would rate this as easy, as there is no incline. Hard packed snow almost all the way through. Neat walk through a wide valley that took us 1-1/2 hours to get to the icewall, including time to stop and explore / take pics.

Just did it today, fairly easy but icy in spots. Trail path is packed. A bit nicer in the summer imo.

Fun winter walk up to the ice wall.

The trail has changed drastically since the 2013 flood. I wouldn't say it is very scenic beyond seeing the wonderful rock faces. It is worthwhile for a quick outing while staying close to town. Less trafficked than the busy Grassi Lakes for sure.

Easy-Moderate Canmore Difficulty = ⭐️⭐️/ 5 Distance = ⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 5 Elevation = ⭐️/ 5 Scenery = ⭐️⭐️/ 5 Elapsed time = 2:36 Open walk down the creek bed. Depending on how much precipitation there has been when you go, prepare to get your feet wet. There are dead trees that you can use to cross the little creek at some points, others the creek is narrow enough to step over. There is very little shade on this hike.

A lot of fun jumping over the stream and balancing over logs to cross the creek. Waterproof shoes with good ankle support is recommended as there is a lot of loose rocks you are walking over.

Your pups will thank you for this one! You follow the creek the entire way- so much fun for them to splash around!

You can walk as far as you wish up the creek and hardly see a soul (midweek). Really nice little walk , not strenuous at all and is about 2 hours all in. Wear proper footwear as you're walking on top of a rocky river bed.

An amazing first real hiking experience in Canmore. We went through all trail, most of the creek was rocky and some parts covered by snow and ice. Spectacular views and not too busy. Great trail for walking with the dog. Definitely worth it. It took us 4 hours to complete the trail.

Enjoyable hike to stretch the legs after the long winter. Fun jumping back and forth across the river and over trees and rocks. Still quite a few icy patches under foot, an ice ‘cavern’ along the way was fun to peek in. Walked about 8km return but could have gone even further. An easy hike, if you can even call it that, more of a walk. #HikingWithHarri

At the 2.4 km mark the creek became too dangerous to walk on. We could hear the water flowing beneath the ice and water would come up around our feet as we walked. We tried to find a way along the shore and through the trees but couldn't find a way through. We turned back at this point.

Easy trail that's close to town but no breathtaking views. You can be in and out in about 2 hours, unless you decide to climb, if you keep a steady pace and spent only a short duration at the end. Always reasonable parking, trailhead is easily found and great if you want to try a new trail that you haven't completed before. It's worth experiencing it and moving onto a more rewarding trail.

Amazing trail. It is very easy, you have to cross the river many times tho. It is fun and you can be back in 2 hours :) walk is still on the walley, so no beautiful views on mountains. Many people are climbing there..
