Drove all the way out and did not realize trail was closed. We went ahead and hiked for awhile anyways, but the snow is ankle deep and where there is no snow it is puddles and mud. Suggest doing this hike later in summer when everything is guaranteed to be melted.

I haven’t hiked even close to all the trails in Banff, but this is by far the most underrated hike I’ve been on. Went in 2018 when it was smoky, but still incredible. Almost no one on the trail and most spectacular lake we saw. Quick hike (2-3 hours round trip). We went to Morraine, Louise, Annette, and Agnes and we think this was our overall favorite lake. Gorgeous water, very very few people around, gorgeous mountains in the background. Absolutely worth it. Make sure to wear closed toed shoes as there are a lot of tree roots and can trip you up. Also go to Cirque lake if you have time. Not much of an add on but also gorgeous. And very peaceful.

We hiked this yesterday and were the only ones on the trail with the recent snowfall. It was a winter wonderland and the snow and frozen conditions helped a lot with the mud. We put on approx 8 km including campground wandering and trail. There was lots of bear track on trail near lake and at lake outflow. This was a fairly easy hike for 3 adult, a 7 year old, a 7 month old and a dog. It took a few hours but we stopped to snack and feed kids and change baby so were slower than average. Very enjoyable afternoon and good time to go.

This trail offers options to go to either Chephren and/or Cirque Lake (both are beautiful). Both begin on the same path and at 1.9km the trail splits (Chephren to the right -trail is fairly flat, and Cirque to the left - trail has a bit more uphill). Both trails are currently very muddy and have a lot of roots, so consider wearing hiking boots with good ankle support. My group took ~4 hours to complete both trails (with stops at each of the Lakes).

The trail was super muddy and lots of tree roots. Definitely recommend proper closed toe shoes at the least. The trail is fairly easy and quite level throughout. Many beautiful views and the lake is surreal

Beautiful trail, but extremely muddy. Everything below your knees will be soaked. The lake at the end is worth it though. So gorgeous. Just be prepared. It needs many many days of hot sun to dry out. Easy hike other than that. Mostly flat.

Still pretty muddy but if you have boots or shoes you can get wet and muddy then it is an interesting hike. At the beginning after we crossed the bridge some we considered turning around but then kept going to see if it got better. A lot of the trail there are roots you can step on or go around the trail on some new paths here and there where it is more muddy. There were a few spots where almost a full shoe was submerged but if careful only the bottom got wet for me. The kids thought it was fun trying to jump around for dry spots so it makes less monotonous for sure. There wasn’t much to do when you got there but go along the lake for a small trail but still great views. When you get back to the trailhead the picnic area is perfect for a rest and some more great views there too.

Trail was quite muddy & rained periodically. Roots consistently made attention to foot placement important. Beautiful reward at the end with a shoreline of the lake. Would do this hike again with more dry conditions.

Pretty muddy and overflown with water right now. Sure it’s gorgeous in the summer, but we came from Peyto Lake and this one wasn’t worth it.

The trail is quite muddy throughout with a little snow at different parts. The lake is still frozen but very beautiful!

I went here on May 15, 2019. It's snow covered and muddy after about 2km. The view was beautiful, but the lake was frozen. I would only recommend it if you had snow shoes, a change of clothes, and maybe a swimsuit.

Hiked in August. Trail was dry but lots of tree root rutting. views of lake were great at the end- in this case the destination far exceeded the journey. Great intro hike for visiting European family members.

Trail is nice and in the shade. The lake is beautiful but unfortunately didn't get to see much because of the smoke. Better in the morning light.

Beautiful trail through the trees to a perfect lake. You have to hop around in spots to avoid mud (we were hiking in tennis shoes).

The trail was very rooted and mucky. While not a difficult trail; it was very tedious. No birds or wildlife spotted during our hike and not at all scenic until we reached the lake. Beautiful Glacier lake and views once we arrived. Don’t let the sign at the trail fool you. “Easy Stroll” Not!
