Cat Creek Waterfall is a 1.5 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Kananaskis Improvement, Alberta, Canada that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and walking and is best used from March until November. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Fun little trail. With the gate closed for the winter, we half biked and half hiked up the road. The road was nicely melted for the first two km and then a bit of a snowy, icy mess for the next three and we had to ditch the bikes and walk to the trailhead. The actual trail had previously been snowshoed so it was well enough packed down that we easily walked it with hiking shoes. Looking forward to coming back in the summer.
Great for a quick jog to the fall. Lovely easy and cute path. But very icy right now. Not a bad idea to pack the yaktrax. Also if you like solitude on a hike this is not the one. But it’s very accessible for kids and dogs because it’s so short, so it’s always packed. Also shout out to the person at the fall who watched me fall while standing stone still and asked me if I was okay but didn’t laugh. You’re the real mvp!
No one on the trail when we set out. Saw one couple at the falls but they left when we arrived. On the way back the trail was packed with families. Definitely recommend getting out early to have some peace at the falls.
Nice little hike. Easy to do with a family. The trail is in good condition. Old miners town/settlements lived here. I’ve even found old metal pieces of that time. The water fall at the end is beautiful. Worth bringing a towel and change of clothes to jump in.
Very easy trail with beautiful views and a cute waterfall at the end.
