Bow Falls Viewpoint is a 1.7 mile out and back trail located near Banff, Alberta, Canada that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and walking.
The trail begins in town, just at the south base of the pedestrian bridge across the Bow River. It follows through a forested area along the Bow River and there are some nice viewpoints along the way of the river and surrounding mountains and benches to enjoy the scenery. The trail is mostly flat though there were some sets of wooden stairs to climb up and down. This hike is busy and popular, so there isn't complete solitude. The trail ends at a platform overlooking the Bow Falls. They are pretty – though perhaps spectacular – but still nice to see. It is a quick and pretty trail to do within walking distance from the centre of town.
Quite icy in sections going up to the hot springs but a beautiful day; 18 degrees C.
Beautiful trial but sections were very icy. The stairs were ok if you step on the wooden part but some of the parts right after the stairs were super icy and not much to hold on to. It’s a gorgeous trail though and wasn’t busy at all when I went - mid day on a Wednesday.
Not bad for a morning walk or something fairly easy. The views at the end was really nice though. Stairs were extremely icy. Managed with just hiking boots but cleats are highly recommended.
2021-03-12 stairs around falls not maintained so very icy. Hang on to rail. Very good walk/hike.
Lovely trail. Great for beginners. We went March 03 at 16:30 and finished by 18:00. I suspect that time would be much shorter had it not been for the icy stairs. You’ll want ice cleats unless you’re comfortable to take it slow. Be sure to sanitize after holding the rails
Lovely beginners trail. We started around 4:30 and finished by 6:15 (Longer time
Nice views, easy trail, good for dogs, not good for strollers or very little kids. Very slippery at the moment. Bring traction aids
Très belle randonnée. Un peu glissante dans les escaliers.
