The trail begins in town, just at the south base of the pedestrian bridge across the Bow River. It follows through a forested area along the Bow River and there are some nice viewpoints along the way of the river and surrounding mountains and benches to enjoy the scenery. The trail is mostly flat though there were some sets of wooden stairs to climb up and down. This hike is busy and popular, so there isn't complete solitude. The trail ends at a platform overlooking the Bow Falls. They are pretty – though perhaps spectacular – but still nice to see. It is a quick and pretty trail to do within walking distance from the centre of town.

Easy trail you can walk to from within Banff. Some nice view along the River. Several sets of stairs along the trail.

Easy trail with some icy portions. Lovely views all around! Went with my 9 year old - still wore snow shoes but saw a lot of people in regular sneakers. Not a lot of people on a Friday morning.

Just wore hiking boots. Didn't need cleats. Stairs were fine up and down. Just a couple of icy places. A beautiful sunny morning.

Beautiful trial but sections were very icy. The stairs were ok if you step on the wooden part but some of the parts right after the stairs were super icy and not much to hold on to. It’s a gorgeous trail though and wasn’t busy at all when I went - mid day on a Wednesday.

Not bad for a morning walk or something fairly easy. The views at the end was really nice though. Stairs were extremely icy. Managed with just hiking boots but cleats are highly recommended.

Lovely trail. Great for beginners. We went March 03 at 16:30 and finished by 18:00. I suspect that time would be much shorter had it not been for the icy stairs. You’ll want ice cleats unless you’re comfortable to take it slow. Be sure to sanitize after holding the rails

Nice trail, a bit busy and the stairs are very icy, unless you’re young and agile and don’t mind sliding down while holding the railing definitely bring cleats. There’s a few small waterfall to see near the end. Nice small hike in town.
