Hiking

Loved this hike! Just difficult enough to break a small sweat at times, never too steep (a couple inclines where you feel the burn). It goes up and down throughout the whole way and is close to difficulty each way. Most of the hike is parallel to the beautiful rushing river, with many spots to sneak down to it. We didn't quite finish the whole trail, not sure how much longer we had but I think we were super close, within a 1/2 km for sure. It took us 3hr 15 min (with a couple snack breaks) there, and 2.5 hours back (less breaks). Today was the first day Red Rock Parkway reopened for vehicle traffic. Everywhere is burnt from the fire, the whole way along this trail and so much beyond. There is a certain beauty in the juxtaposition of damage and new growth on the forest floor. Some small creeks and waterfalls to walk through, some muddy spots. No snow. Will definitely do this hike again, it was beautiful. Perfect fit between a relaxing stroll and a workout without going hard and sweating your butt off.

This is our hike in the Blakiston Valley, it was a nice relaxing hike, moderate elevation till we reached the 8 KM mark, then the trail started getting steeper, so we headed back. This was supposed to be one of our "relaxing hikes day", so we took it easy. This trail basically followed the creek all the way up.
