Great hike but would suggest to return to Bad Goisern via Hochmuth. The Goisererhütte is certainly worth a visit, especially if you pick a day with a clear view. Hike is ok for a medium sized or larger fit dog, but some sections are somewhat steep. Don’t agree though with the estimated time and distance. Starting in Bad Goisern I clocked 19.6 km and trail running the travk when possible, I was 4h 45minutes on the move. Expect to be 6-7 hours on the mountain even if starting and finishing at the car park.

This is a beautiful hike but it is a very steep ascent, virtually the entire trail. Difficult because the footing is not great, lots of loose rocks and gravel on the trail makes for slippery conditions. Part of the trail washed out in March 2019 and is a bit difficult to maneuver. The reward: magnificent views all the way up, and excellent food at the Goiserer Hütte.
