A great walk or ride around the river in Denmark. It takes in both sides of the river. In 1829 Dr Thomas Braidwood Wilson led an expedition into this district while his ship was laid up for repairs in Albany. Guided by a local Minang Aboriginal named Mokare, he named a number of landmarks including the Denmark River (after his friend and colleague Dr Alexander Denmark). This is a paved trail along the river. You will see animal sculptures, images of rabbits’ engraved in the stones, water lilies. After the walk, you can head up the street and take a coffee & cake in the Bakery (they also sell delicious bread). There are picnic tables near the river with great views.
I used this trail for a very pleasant morning run starting from my room at the denmark hotel and river rooms. Some of the turns were slightly confusing towards the end but if you keep using your map it’s a piece of pie - pretty much any path you take will eventually lead you to the same area anyways.
Super easy trail in Denmark, it is a paved trail, it goes along the river. We started near the central bridge, continued towards the ocean, reached the second bridge, crossed the river and continued on the opposite side. When we got to the first bridge, we decided to go further as there is yet another bridge. We loved it! Trail is beautiful and quiet. We saw peculiar animal sculptures, images of rabbits’ engraved in the stones, water lilies... When you get to the starting point , head up the street and take a coffee & cake in the Bakery (they also sell delicious bread). There are picnic tables near the river. Best views !
Straight forward trail with most of the track paved. A little of it goes through over grown bush and some is on lush grass with parkways. A mix of different vistas.
