Good views as the terrain varies through different valleys. Anti clockwise so the steepest hill is a climb, but they are pretty small uphills. Need hiking boots if it’s after rain as the trail was wet in many spots the morning after a downpour.

Very enjoyable trail. Challenging enough in parts to get the heart rate up, especially the climb up from Syd's Rapids, if you are doing the trail anti clockwise, which I did. Probably the best time of the year to see the river and the rapids in full flow.Beautiful views the whole way round. Highlight of my day was walking into a mob of roos who were as surprised to see me as I was them.

We did the echidna trail (11km) in August, it was a nice day but might be a bit hot if doing this in the summer. Good to start at the first car park and walk along the river. If you do the walk in an anti clockwise direction you can see the rapids and water running which is better than the opposite way. The walk want too tough, although if you aren’t fit you may find the walk after the river a bit hard as there is quite a lot of uphill walking after this point (we didn’t find this a problem and don’t hike too often). There are toilets and bbq facilities near the river if you want a picnic. Note that you have to pay to enter the National Park. Well signposted.

Lot of walk on vehicle track, walked clockwise, so gravelly descent needs caution. Next time will go reverse direction. Lots kangaroos and a couple of emus this morning. Picnic areas along the flat river part.

Saw kangaroos, lizards and cockatoos. The grass trees were magestic.

Lots of up nd downs, sharp climbing, kind of boring as there is not much scenarios. Decent outing. Good signage.

The sign posts follow a different path than this map. I went anti clockwise and found it an amazing hike. Avon river, rapids, climbing, wildflowers, kangaroos and scenic views from the top.

Great walk although the climb in the first part was quite steep but it was well worth it with amazing views at the top. Fantastic wildflowers in September! Great recreational area with BBQs & benches for a picnic after your walk.

Nice hike on a crisp winter morning, lots of kangaroos and bird life. Park gates open at 8am and close at 5pm. $13 entry for a car.

Great walk. Takes about 2.5 hours. We followed the signs for the trail and it differs a bit from this map.

Well signed posted and great views. Only complaint is that it doesn’t open till 8am which is too late to start walking to beat the heat. I walked this path anticlockwise and so glad I did.

Stunning day and the wildflowers were in full bloom. Tough first half with the incline but the second half was easy peasy.

First to Review

We walked in an anticlockwise direction to avoid the steep descents on rocky ground. Varied track, lots of uphill and down on uneven rocky and sometimes unstable ground. It took 4 and a half hours with few stops to do the loop but I'm not fit so probably would be a bit quicker if you have experience or better fitness. Scenery is beautiful, Australian bush and views across the Avon valley from the top... Can see Perth city in the distance on the other side... Didn't see much wildlife except for a snake. Loved it.
