An epic journey that follows the Golden pipeline from Mundaring Weir 75km to Northam on a well graded, wide trail This is a long diatance multi trail that follows the Kalgoorlie pipeline from Mundaring Weir to Northam, 75km further east. The track is wide, well graded and there are no steep hills, which make it suitable for walkers, offroad cyclists and horse riders alike. The whole trail is an all day, or longer, undertaking but smaller sections can be tackled individually. The trail can be split into: Weir to Mundaring Mundaring to Sawyers Sawyers to Mount Helena Mount Helena to Chidlow Chidlow to Wooroloo Wooroloo to Wundowie Wundowie to Bakers Hill Bakers Hill to Clackline Clackline to West Northam tanks West Northam tanks to Northam There are good public transport links to Mundaring and Northam at the finish, including the scenic Avonlink and Prospector trains as well as a coach service which also takes bicycles (must be booked ahead). Mobile phone reception: If using the free version of the EveryTrail app you will need continuous mobile coverage. Along the Kep Track you will have excellent Telstra reception and ok to poor Optus and Vodaphone reception.

We wanted to do a shorter track with our dogs, so we went as far as we could without entering the National Park. Inclines were gradual the only issue arising on Firewood Road (see also the poison warning in the photos I uploaded) were lose gravel made me slip once walking downhill. We encountered a few (but only very few) mountain bikers, all very friendly and ready to go around the puppies. The shared path is quite narrow at times so keep an eye out for a mountain biker coming down the hill.

We left the track at Mt Helena and followed the Railway Heritage Trail to Midland and then back to Midland station where we had left the car. A really good trail with plenty of stopping points next to the route A long but perfectly doable day trip.
