Johanna Beach to Castle Cove Trail via Great Ocean Walk is a 8.5 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Johanna, Victoria, Australia that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round.
A magnificent 3 hour walk from Johanna Beach to Castle Cove on the rugged southern coastline of mainland Australia Park at Johanna Beach car park and walk down to the beach. Once there, head along the beach in a south easterly direction. Approximately 1 hour is beach walking. There is a river crossing where Johanna river flows into the sea. This isn't a deep river but will require you to remove your shoes. Kids can easily cross it. At the end of the beach there is a clear sign for the trail to head up the hill. The remaining 2 hours are through the forest above the cliff tops. Fantastic forests of black boys, gums, tea trees and blankets of bracken. Regular glimpses of the rugged coast line below. Finishes at Castle Cove lookout carpark which is right on the Great Ocean Road near Glenaire.
