Starting at the Ferntree Gully Picnic Ground take School Road up to Bellview Terrace and explore part of the Dandenong Ranges State Park. The park includes a number of tree types and some parts even have Tree Ferns such as Macedon Track which also has some views out to the City. Some tracks are not very well marked in the park while others are marked really well so take care however they all cross somewhere so it's pretty easy to find your way back if you have a good map. There is a Fire Water Tank up the top of the Park which provides a Junction for a number of tracks, from here we headed down to the Kokoda Walk Memorial Track for the journey down the steps. This walk is very busy and doesn't allow for much time for time to read the plaques and reflect however if you get the chance, it's a very interesting trail and you can learn about the Australia Soldiers who tackled the actual Kokoda Trail. This Park is very busy but still worth an exploration, plenty of trails and lots to see.
